was driving along Kesas earlier... and a Polo 1.2 was in front of me.. the driver saw my car coming and he accelerated... i push to DS mode immediately.. and floored the accelerator.. sad sad... the Polo which is half cheaper than my car is leading all the way.... sob sob...:damnmate:

since when the more expensive the car, the faster it is???
Polo is smaller hence lighter, E90 320 is heavier so it doesn't have the power to weight ratio...
u want power, should buy the Golf GTi instead... oso 2.0 mah...

don't mess with VWs...i can only keep up with a stock GTi with my 325i...haiz

Oh really? Hmmm, this is sad. On paper the, Polo 1.2 TSI comes with 105PS and 175NM of torque only as compared to e90 320i it has 156HP and 200NM of Torque. And the Polo 0-100km is 9.7sec which is similar to the e90 320i.

Maybe is the power to weight ratio, plus he was infront of you, hence the headstart and the 7 speed DSG gearbox coupled with the TSI engine...... Or could it be a Polo GTI instead?

Anyway, for a tiny 1.2L engine as this, with 9.7sec for the century sprint, it is pretty impressive.

But then again, this is on straights, wait till the Polo negotiate bends and corners. Your E90 320i Sports is built for bends and handling. The handling/dynamics is way better than the Polo, besides, VW is in a different league than Bimmers...so take this experience with a pinch of salt. You need not prove anything coz obviously your car is a much better car in everyway than the Polo... :top:

if you want power you probably shouldnt buy the 320 in the first place, you would need at least 325 to be comfortable, not powerful.

The torque is the one that made it pull away, especially with less weight to haul..

The 320i is not a powerhouse, so even a Satria Neo or Gen2 can outgun u u at the traffic light.... Got blue propeller emblem doesn't mean it can fly.... No pun intended, but that's the truth... time to upgrade to 325i or go for the 320d torque machine....

should try the torquey 320d...

yes correct, but then can enjoy the belching black smoke coming out from the exhaust, esp when flooring down the gas pedal.. thanks to the quality of our diesel..:smokin:

Actually during the dyno day we had.. the 2 320d didn't belch out black smoke as we expected.... Maybe engine still new... ;)

Aiyoh, very sad indeed. Reminds me of my previous 318i smoked by Kancils once the light turned green...

It's not that bad, naharnms. Don't put the 320d down so nonchalantly....it's a new-kid-on-the-block designed to give you bang for your buck. You'll expect so much more from any other car you drive......after owning a 320d. A fine machine to burn the track up.........until the 2.5L/3L diesel twinturbos arrive...

ha ha ha very true indeed

thank you everyone.... in fact .... it is not a comparable between the 2 cars... yes... now i know what i need to do edi.. come to think about it... my E90 is slower than my previous car civic 2.0.. hehe...

so what's next.... hehe... time to get a very fast Beemer... i am always a fan to M3 ... but way too expensive... so the next best alternative would be 335i... hehe...

wait till you met the ultimate polo, polo gti with 1.4 twincharged 180PS and 250Nm, coming in march 2011.
this polo 1.2TSI turbo has max torque 175Nm at around 1550rpm if i'm not wrong... really impressive, test drove it, really quick, the DSG tranny helps that too..
top speed of 190kph is 25kph shy of 320i's 215kph though
but the polo we get in malaysia is poorly spec, 15" alloys and no foglights, etc..

Test drove the Polo the other day and was VERY impressed with the acceleration. Nice car! Dun play play....

polo is a quite straight to the point car. - get in, step on it, get out. no toys, no fancy stuff, no whatsoever.

as for the acceleration, i think its quite normal for a turbocharge car. but i do think this car could suffer in terms of speed.

in terms of zippiness, polo has it. its quick, but not fast, yet small enough to zip thru.

That's why the D always "smoked" the car behind...:top:
