A great hello to all Sifus and Bros here, my name is Ken and I've made a short introduction in the newbies section. Nevertheless, I have decided to jump ship from the Audi wagon (pun intended, as Audis are famous for their RS4 & RS6 wagons :65:)and recently paid a deposit for a brand new (old) E46 325i original M sport. Glad to join the E46 club and hopefully I'll be able to join your TTs and be an official member soon! Will be expecting to receive my car some time this week. I've gone through many posts and thanks to all the info, I have been able to properly identify the original M Sport models from the regular modded 325i models. Which brings me to my-soon-to-be car: I've fallen in love with the i-6 engine and the driving characteristics, thus I pretty much decided to buy it based on my personal observations and testing. I'm ready to fork out some extra money for repairs and preventive maintenance as mentioned in all posts, however there's one very mysterious thing about the car: the door sills states that its a BMW individual car, and the title registers it is a 2.8l engine in a 325i! I've confirmed with RealOem that it is indeed an M54 engine, manufactured 2002 in Munich Germany (Vin WBAxxxxNG64571), the AP document shows it was imported by Naza World into Msia on 2003, owned by one owner since then till now. I've searched the net for info on M54B28 but many forums around the world say that it doesn't exist, only one or two pages like this: (http://www.bmwe23.nl/http/BMW+Engine+Numbers.htm) says that it is a real engine with additional 37nm of torque from the M54B25, and was later replaced by the B30. Is this configuration of 325i M54B28 possible? As I've yet to get the diagnostic tool, how do I check whether its a real M54 with Double Vanos? Or could it be a M52B28 instead? Sorry for the long post, I'm really confused with all these info, but still very excited about the car.
