found this on a website: Why does my transmission grind so much? Apparently this is a widespread problem among TEL owners. I guess you have heard a lot of people are having trouble fixing it, but it looks like there are not many complaints from 95 owners. Is there a way to fix this problem? At this point no known cure has been found. Yes, not even changing the whole transmission has solved the problem in many cases. But there are couple thing you can help to lessen the grind: Use Red Line MTL (or MT90) or BG Synchroshift fluids, this helps eliminate most of the shifting problems Check to see if your clutch master cylinder must be replaced Don't downshift from high rpm alot, if it's not necessary. Instead use your brakes. Redline MTL in the grearbox Redline 75/90 in the diff (make sure you get the one made for LSD) Royal Purple 10w30 in the engine Depends. MTL and MT90 shift like crap in my 140k mile-old E36 M3 tranny, but shifts great in an E30 M3 tranny. Different additives, different synchro metals, different results. BG Synchroshift works awesome in my E36 M3 tranny. MT90 ground 3rd gear synchro on the Watts brand new Getrag 6-speed, Royal Purple is in there now with acceptable results. I'd like to see how Gear FF works. I put BMW MTF-LT2 into a brand new ZF 330i 6-speed, and it still grinds a tiny bit when shifting really fast. I think the owner just deals with it for now. For your Evo, I've heard nothing but rave reviews for BG Synchroshift. Same goes for a lot of Japanese transmissions, esp Mitsu's.
