The response is just fanstastic. no more stupid AFM flap to restrict the flow, most people who are like me would know that the revs will drop below idle sometime if we quickly depress and press the accellerator pedal. it's gone now and the air flow is just awesome. you have to feel it to believe it man.ok, let's talk about how it's done,i bought a 1998 E39 525i Siemens MAF, an aluminium connector hose, a silicon connector, and a 3" inlet Pipercross air filterYou need some sort of a chip or A/F device to tune the ECU to recognize the new air flow device. In this case, the Unichip and Unichip tecnician did all the signal adjustments, conversion and a/f settings. The plug to to the MAF will tap the ones from the former AFM and modified slightly. Air Temperature sensor isn't use in my application. instead, the ohms of a wire were changed to "cheat" the ECU of the air Temp sensor being there and there's only 1 reading which is a permanent reading that will never change according to temperature. Plus the air Temperature in Asia don't vary much, so i'm not worried about it.it's quite techincal which i ddin't really get to absorb much. anyway, i gained 5RWHP on top of the 160RWHP i had before MAF which was pretty good. but what's important was the engine response that i'm really happy with. No graphs and charts due to the faulty printer..but there are pics. so enjoy!cheersTom <img src="http://www.zerotohundred.com/forums/uploads/post-37-1079605364.jpg" alt="" class="fr-fic fr-dii fr-draggable " style="" /> <img src="http://www.zerotohundred.com/forums/uploads/post-37-1079605448.jpg" alt="" class="fr-fic fr-dii fr-draggable " style="" /> <img src="http://www.zerotohundred.com/forums/uploads/post-37-1079605498.jpg" alt="" class="fr-fic fr-dii fr-draggable " style="" /> <img src="http://www.zerotohundred.com/forums/uploads/post-37-1079605534.jpg" alt="" class="fr-fic fr-dii fr-draggable " style="" /> <img src="http://www.zerotohundred.com/forums/uploads/post-37-1079605634.jpg" alt="" class="fr-fic fr-dii fr-draggable " style="" /> <img src="http://www.zerotohundred.com/forums/uploads/post-37-1079605665.jpg" alt="" class="fr-fic fr-dii fr-draggable " style="" /> <img src="http://www.zerotohundred.com/forums/uploads/post-37-1079605760.jpg" alt="" class="fr-fic fr-dii fr-draggable " style="" /> <img src="http://www.zerotohundred.com/forums/uploads/post-37-1079605790.jpg" alt="" class="fr-fic fr-dii fr-draggable " style="" /> <img src="http://www.zerotohundred.com/forums/uploads/post-37-1079605846.jpg" alt="" class="fr-fic fr-dii fr-draggable " style="" /></p></blockquote><p></p>
[QUOTE="Tom, post: 8, member: 1"] to get the ball rolling, here's the first tech article from me.======================================Hi guys,I finally did my AFM to MAF Conversion I love it so so much.
