woiiiii 3500.....thats quite a price....anyway...about nappa leather...is that supposed to be good...dont really not about leather....to me its all the same dont know how to differentiate between a good and bad leather....

need some sifu to advice...

ive checked the website of mrz carseat and their leather are from europe...(betul ke europe):D

My dad did change his leather seats at MRZ. I didn't quite like the quality. It felt too spongy, especially the headrests. Just to give you an idea, the headrests can be squeezed like a pillow. Same goes to the seats. It has lost its firmness. They are still quite new in the business despite their very presentable showroom. Check out Lucky Car Interior at Taman Mayang, P.J. They have been in the business for more than 20 years. The price is a bit pricey but the quality is better.

ONE WORD - AVOID!

My car seats from them - Their SALES, NITEMARE.....never stick to appointment for fitting and when there, my rear seat never arrived from their factory and in end, I ended bolting up the seats myself after waiting for hours from 5pm to nine pm plus.

Best is after all finish - their sales left and no chance to pay!!!! Yes, they never even told their installers or me, the client. I went back to pay.....few days later.

I still have not received the receipt for payment, after 2 years!

The quality, nothing to shout about, material I got....so so but perhaps I was on budget but their customer service from the sales team is UNACCEPTABLE. ( Technical guys were helpful and understanding.....but could not do much )

You have been FOREWARNED!!!!!

Why I went there? That's for another story.....

I done before, average price for seats and door panels using italian leather RM2,800 for E30, 32, 34, 36..

PM me and I'll let you know the right place, as there are many around.

I did mine at Lucky Car Interior on my e34 . Fabric on the seats and wrapped the leather on the steering. Excellent job and the steering looks damn good with the stcihes like original. Speak to the boss and he will explain to you on types of leathers etc.

Thanks.

Hi,

Cant recall extacly as done more than 1 year. I paid abut 2k for all and the prices was for leather steering and fabric seats, door cards and rear speaker board. Will check my bill and see if I have the detail breakdown and will post it

My friend did change his leather seats at MRZ. He said to me that MRZ is highly selective of production material. Leather is imported directly from established European suppliers specialised in proven automotive leather to maintain premium quality minus the cost. Only the best calf leather is selected for production after various selection phases by experts, ensuring the highest quality always.

rohoni.....you sound like sales person to me. HA HA HA

the key word is you pay for what you get, so maybe your "friend" paid a premium and I did not, so please dun say they are highly selective of their leather. I have personal painful experience and the wear and tear is visible in less than a year....on their so called imported leather!!!!

NO TO MRZ! - based on my personal experience.

excuse me while I go stick a finger down my throat to puke up....

Just can't trust anyone mate. The suppliers are bulls***ting the whole auto leather industry here. From sources, they are getting them from China, Thailand and Indon and saying it's from Europe.

To avoid this crap from China, some owners are personally importing leather from Europe to have them stitched here.

I may be inclined to do this as well and am in touch with someone in Europe and USA. I would personally like the leather from USA ... very durable and hardy unlike the softer ones from Europe (which we are all used to here) which tends to stretch more and subsequently cause cracks to form in a shorter time than the slighter harder ones. I've already got the samples and truly like them. It just feels so different from the ones available here. The downside : there is a minimum requirement order to be met.

Will advise when I get more info.

i know someone who has nappa leather done, RM3,800 whole car, seats, and trim. if you guys know leather, i'm sure you will have heard of nappa.

the leather is very soft, and smooth.. you can hardly see any grain in it at all. workmanship is one thing, but choice of leather also plays a part. unlike just buying "italian" or whatever country leather, nappa is actually a specific type/quality of leather, just like connolly, at least you know exactly what you're getting.

i think its standard in newer bmw's and mercs, as well as porsches..

definitely sounds like a sales pitch!!

basically ALL leather is imported and except for the 2000K job, from Italy or Germany, and there are MANY types of grades.. even for top grain.

MRZ leather is ok/so-so. nothing special. despite the claims to the contrary.

as for MRZ's claim to the "best" calf leather.. that is really Horses**t!, the "best" leather is connolly.. rolls royce grade period!! I have it and it will cost mininum of 7K for a typcial 4 door sedan. it's typcially 3mm think and very soft and completely smooth. if you get the connolly for 5K then its NOT Rolls Royce grade, but the type they use of Jags/Daimlers. still very good but don't let someone BS you. MRZ's grade at 3K it typcial furniture grade... decent but it will crack after 3-4 years and definitely does not wear as well as connolly or nappa.

Frankly, connolly is the one to get if one can cough up 5-7K, but nappa is also very good and long lasting. Connolly WILL last for a lifetime if oiled regularly and not exp;osed to sun and improves with age if treated properly. This is not marketing but fact based. the connolly on my other car is at least 10yrs and still looks new and I mean showroon new. with only a few creases (not cracks) on the drivers side. meanwhile the nappa OEM leather on my former mercedes is going strong after 18 years with a few creases and people havig a hard time believeing its 18 year olds. !!

so there you have it guys!! :). 3K, get the furniture grade but pay a few hundred more and get the nappa type whch is longer lasting. if you can bite the bullet then the 5-7k+ connolly will be the one to have. Just don't get the 2k grade as it's like sitting on cardboard.. maybe worse!! ?
