Hi Bro,
Same your money...
add up supercharger..
will be satisfy with the hp gain and can maintain yr current engine longer.
but dont go for off market china or taiwan brand. go for ASA or ESS...
Tks.

U can direct swap but u r not fully utilized the potential of the engine ...... Basically m54B22 and M54B25 having totally different hardware and software as well from intake,MAF, ECU mapping, torque converted etc ........

My advice is if wanted convert , better do a complete conversion or as mentioned by dominic , supercharges ur M54b22 is another option ......

If u ask me , if possible sell ur existing car and buy another with M54b25 instead cos the money u spend is about the same but u save lot of headache for the conversion .......

Good luck ....

What about M54B30? By just retaining the engine block of M54B22, you retain your road tax price.. that's a saving of what.. RM1.5k a year?

Im using b30 after my b22 gave away months ago. The power is there but so smooth. Maybe due to b22 torque converter. Im saving for manual gearbox to complete the conversion.

B22 block cant plug n play for b30...... different bored size ...... if bore to fit b30 , the distance will be too close for d cylinder. .... not advisable......

Hi guys..

Thinking of swapping my m54 b25 to b30. I know the best way is to get a halfcut n put everything in. That will cost 10-15k. But im in kind of urgent n looking for cheaper way (enjin kosong). Any advice on that? Im pretty sure I wont get 230hp from that... so what other parts should I change to optimize the hp? Or maybe can get the 230hp? What part that cannot share between the two engines?
Pls advice..

Thanks

M54B25 vs M54B30

I did a quick check.. and found these differences..

~ Torque converter
~ Intake cam
~ Crank shaft
~ Piston
~ Intake manifold
~ Injector
~ Ignition coil

Possible differences which I didn't check..
~ ECU

Yet to find out.. anyone know can also share..
~ Rear diff?

Thanks ab for the enlightment..
From the items u post I assumed that both engines share same ac compressor, water pump, alternator, intake airbox, brake system, wirings...?

I have seen a m54b22 to m54b30 conversion before.
Donor car was a 530 e39
it was transplanted to a 320 e46. Meters from the e46 were all reused back.

Everyone who has swapped engines went for upgrade, and I think I may be the only one who has opted for a downgrade.

My E39 530i suffered overheating and mechanic suspected engine block may have cracked because engine oil flooded the cooling system. On the advice of my mechanic, I decided to swap the M54B30 for a M54B25. The mechanic did only the engine swap.

I have been driving the car for one week now and I am facing several issues:

1) The car feels sluggish (of course there is 40hp less) but I have driven my brother's E60 525i with M54B25 too and it's definitely more powerful.
2) The gear shifts are also less responsive when I stomp on the accelerator. The responsive nature of a BMW automatic gearbox has gone.
3) The engine vibrates at certain combination of RPM and car speed. I have yet to pinpoint and emulate the problem.

I told my mechanic that there are stuff to be re-programmed from what I gather from several forums. He says these are beyond his capabilities and I am now stucked.

Hope someone can advice where I can get the DME or even the EGS re-programmed to suit the M54B25 engine.

Thank you very much.

Regards,
Chung
