M-Sports II Suspension

During the front upper arm replacement yesterday I noticed that my front passenger side strut/absorber is leaking liquid. I suppose the original M-sport absorber is a non-serviceable part and will need replacement?The mechanic suggested going the Bilstein route rather than replacing back with original M Sports II suspension which is a lot more expensive. He said its better performance and cheaper. Springs dont need to be replaced I suppose? Do I need to replace all 4 in one shot or just replace the fronts for now?To be honest, I am more than happy with my current M-sports suspension set up and would rather keep with the originals. So I think my options are:1. Buy the new original BMW (Sachs made). Was told by Bomin he can get me for RM1400 each for the fronts. I have contacts in UK which I can import personally to save some cost. Already requested some quotes, still waiting for them to reply.2. Buy OEM Sachs absorbers without the BMW logo (Do these exist? Please advise)3. Go the Bilstein route (Please advise prices)

1400 Ea for front msport abs can b considered okay bro.
i've replaced mine (msport coupe) last year it cost be 1.7k ea & 1k ea for front & rear respectively.
i'm like u, prefer m-sport setup rather than bistein/wat. but the new abs came with just 'bmw' without sachs/boge logo.

I believe most of the msport owner didnt use back the msport suspension when their replace theirs.

RM1400 x 2 = RM2800, the money almost can buy a set of coilover for all 4 corners.

most probably the Sachs in the market is more OEM replacement for stock absorbers instead of MSport.

another option that you can go for is the Koni Yellow Sport. I would say it is closest to MSport setup at softest setting.

generally you can get them (bilstein or koni) in singapore around 2000 or so.

ready stock might be an issue for e39.

Anyway, dont really wanna start a new thread but can a rear differential/final drive be refurbished? That leaks oil too and rusted like hell. Seems to be working fine though. Can these be sandpapered and painted back?

This one u can buy the undercoat spray and just spray on...rm40 each bottle, enough to cover ur rear under carriage

Credit limit RM100k also not enuff ka? hehe

Form the info that i gather so far, Sachs Advantage-556834 and Boge turbo gas-36-A61-A are listed as Msport replacement for e39.

Buy Koni adjustables and adjust 1.5 turn to get the Msport settings...that's how i felt it was.

They are quite competitive in term of pricing especially for bmwland members..

Yes those are Cotswold BMW quotes. They were local to me when I was in Bristol and I bought quite a few items with them in the past.

Anyway there's another site where you can order you stuff and ship to malaysia without VAT, try Schmiedmann.com. Its good also to check the prices of items there. But be wary because the first price they quote are normally replacement items, you will need to click 'Show original' to see original BMW items.

They prices are cheap without the VAT (shipped from Denmark) but the shipping charges are the killer and I'm too afraid of the customs tax here.

I think I have found a direct replacement for the M-Sports Suspension II for the E39. Apparently its the Sachs Super Touring which is the exact one as the M-sport absorbers, without the BMW logo.

Yes this version will be identical in every respect to the M Sport II option. The difference is that our ones cannot be sold with the BMW logo on the sticker as we are not an official dealer.
