Guys, here are my 2 cents on all the comments above: - Technical info from Sales Advisers are usually crap. - BSRI is paid for by BMWM regardless whether you do it at AB, IA or SA. BMWM sets the policy regarding 10k, 25k intervals. - The initial interval is supposed to be set during PDI by the dealer, but they do miss occasionally. - The instrument panel read-out is only an indication to you. Proof for BSRI claim by the dealer is taken from your key fob, so when you take it in for service, take the latest key fob you've used or the readout will be out-of-date. - AB told me you can't reset the service indicator once you've exceeded 500km from the last reset - maybe true, maybe not. Glock, suggest that instead of wasting time 'reprogramming', you just get the service dept of one if the dealers, preferably IA, to commit to service your car at 10k. If there's no change to BMWM policy, the readout from your key-fob will suffice for their claim. - Resetting the service indicator taking 1-2 days is BS to me. What wonderful things are they going to do to your OBC? AB told me it would take only a few minutes, but mine couldn't be done because I'd exceeded the 500km. - They will only reset the service indicator if a BSRI service is done, ie official, not if you pay for it yourself. - Rachel, although it's not all that harmful, try not to top up with a different oil from what's already in your engine. I assume you topped-up with Torco SR-1? That's a semi-synthethic you're mixing with your fully-synthetic. Not so good, but not as bad as using SR-5, which is a racing oil and will damage your catalytic converter. Hope I've helped some of you. :)
