Pirellis are among the best tyres in the world. I was considering the P Zero RFT too a few weeks back and found this: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Pirelli&tireModel=PZero RFT
The review wasn't good, but it could be only one person's opinion though. After all, there are a lot of people who don't like the Bridgestone 'Racing Equipment' tyres (RE050A RFT) that I find are quite good. :p

P7s are in their top range, but wouldn't be RFTs. Bro, I have some doubts about the prices you were quoted for the Pirellis. Ask which country they were made in before you buy. Maybe AFTA-made. Not that that's bad, but at least purchase with full knowledge. ;)

how often do you need to do balancing and alignment for RFT's ?
Can most tyre shops do it ?

There is basically no difference between RFT and non-RFT tyres other than stiffer sidewalls in RFTs, ebby37. Any shop that does balancing and alignment can do it. Frequency? IMO minimum of once a year, or when you feel vibration or pulling to one side, or when you notice uneven threadwear. I do it every 3 months.

Schwepps,
The P Zero is made in either Germany or Italy (cannot remember now that you mentioned it) . Saw it on the sample tyre shown by the staff at shop.
I know that it is quite cheap, that is why I posted the prices on the forum. What is the normal prices for the P Zero and P7?

What is the price for the RE050A RFT? where did you buy yours?

Schweeps..the p7 is rm540. is that expensive or cheap or u were refering to the p0?
cos the last time, goodyear sth sth was around rm800 ++ each

Pirellis are also made in Indonesia, just as Michelin is also made in Thailand and the Phillippines. Tyre shops won't tell you if you don't ask, and can you be sure that what you get is the same as the sample they show you? You can usually tell if they're Asean-made from the price. Worse still if they're Chinese imi, so don't buy tyres from just any shop that you don't know well.

Also look at the date of manufacture. It's in the numbers after the DOT markings. Eg, 2308 means 'twenty-third week of 2008' and 1509 means 'fifteenth week of 2009'. Don't buy tyres manufactured more than 2 years ago.

If I buy Michelins, I always make sure they're French or Japanese made. My replacement RE050A RFT is made in Japan, and was RM1,850, although I believe you can get them for ~RM1,600+. I don't know the price of Pirellis but the last time I enquired, they were higher than Michelins...

The P7 is a UHP tyre - Ultra High Performance - fitted on Porsches, Maseratis, etc. So that's very cheap...

If you're gonna stick to RFT's definitely go with OEMs, perhaps the new BMW Performance wheels range. If you're going with non-RFTs, try forged wheels. Much lighter and excellent strength. Better performance, braking and less fuel consumption with lighter unsprung weight .

Stuttgart is now bringing forged HRE wheels. Else there is always BBS LM-Rs, Volks, or Neez wheels. Design is a very personal thing so take your time shopping. You car is an LCI, so you gotta watch out for the rear offsets if its non OEM to make sure they clear your fenders :).

stupid question. now my wheels r rft n with rims. when i change to non rft, can i use back the rims?

Can kua... Let one of us know when you wanna change your tyres la. We dun mind helping out our treasured E9x queen

E9x queen, if you want to go non-RFT, go for the Michelin Pilot series or Goodyear Eagle F1 series. Both proven to be good in traction and wear. Or be daring and try Pirelli PZeros or P7s and tell us whether they wear well or not. :)

Anyone using the Bridgestone assymetrical ?
Anyone know of the prices for the Pilot and the F1

I now inclined towards a non RFT (+ AAM membership and tire puncture kit) instead of RFT.
What I understand they are better handling and quiter tires , not to mention at half the price of RFT.

What other things should I consider?
