Hye guys. Firstly I would like to apologize if I post this in the wrong thread cause this is my first time posting here.As you can see in my title, I locked my key inside the trunk and I can't get in the car now. My car model is BMW 320i E46 using IR remote key. I would like to know any of you guys here know how to unlock the car without damaging anything? Btw, I have no spare key since the first day I got the car. Thanks!

Last time when i loocked my key in trunk, i can not do anything even i can go into the car (thanks to my faulty power window).

The only way is i asked my friend to send the spare key to me from JB to KL.

I know of a mechanic who can open the door lock without the remote key. Call PKL Motorsport (017) 540-8628.

Sad to say, you either call a locksmith or break one of the side window.
Will try to get a locksmith to open my car.

My front passenger side has faulty power window can be open by just pushing it downwards but only can open halfway. My problem now is I'm in Miri & there is not much bmw specialist here :(

Thanks for the info but sadly i'm in Miri. Thanks again :D

hopefully your windscreen covered by insurance then u can break it mate..: D

One more thing, I know cold weather package for E46 have a ski pass-through but on my car it is covered by a metal with spot weld. Anyone of you guys ever try to remove the metal part?

Fold down the armrest.. there will be a little black button on the top of the inside where the armrest folds into, push and it will pop the trunk flap down

Thanks! :D Will try to get it done by today cause all my paperwork is inside the boot & been going to work without them. hahah.

Ewan, for e39 all button can not work if u already lock the car, not sure for e46.

My E36 also has the ski hole behind the back seat. Somebody had already opened it before me so I 'll say it can be done. Anyway the metal plate does not look that thick so a hammer and chisel probably do the trick

No it will not work if the car is locked with the key.

I presume that you have lock the car and have open the boot with your key. If you have accidentally left the key in the boot, you will not be able to open the boot from switch under the driver side. (That mean breaking the window is not an option).

I just try this with my car. Lock myself in the car. cant open the window and cant open the boot. The only to open is to insert the key into the ignition and turn it to release the dead boot.

Another way is to hot wire the GM5 module.. or drill a hole at a certain place at the rear end of the boot. or call a locksmith

Apply for E46? Will check it now..

Guys, can the dealer make a new key to replace my lost key? And how much does it cost? One more thing, does your e46 comes with emergency trunk release in the trunk nearby the tool kit?

That one is for the fuel filler which is located above the battery compartment.
