If I'm not mistaken, I overheard sithwarrior saying that Ian's 330ci has it.

Yes I know. The 330Ci has it. Just wanna know if the rest of the later models e.g. 318i, 325i come with this screen. What's the function? Similar to iDrive?

I reckon only CBU units has it...

Oops... Sorry... a bit blur... didn't read your first post properly... 3am, couldn't sleep. 8am, still not asleep.

From what i've heard, it acts as a monitor for GPS and also entertainment. Not so sure if it has iDrive installed. I always thought iDrive was available on 5, 6 and 7 series lineups. Correct me if i'm wrong.

Not too sure about aftermarkets either, but i've come across an article somewhere reviewing an E46 installed with the same LCD, a Mac Mini as operating system plus the iDrive control features.

Wah tak payah tidur kah? Hahaha..... sat in my friend's 330Ci. His TV only works when the car is stationary. The TV in the 735i I testdrove rececently works even on the move but the reception wasn't very good.

I feel the TV adds a touch of class to the dashboard. :D

Trying very hard to sleep. Don't feel so good... gettin feverish so workin from home.

It doesn't just add class... It also adds functionality. And judging from the article i read, expandable too. A full Apple setup in a car! While driving can still surf bmwclubmalaysia.com. Haha... with toys like this, you'd WANT to be stuck in a traffic jam.

You don't "sound" good bro.... better get your fever checked out....

my car has a similar screen like that. slightly different int he sense that the two knobs are at the right (near the driver) instead of on botth sides of the screen.

well while you're driving it displays the speed limit you put on your car if any, range, consumation, outside temperature, and average speed. it also act as the display for your radio and cd. and while stationery you can use it to watch tv.

there's a gps dvd slot at the rear and can use the screen for it.

no not really all Ci's coz when I was looking around for one, a lot of them doesn't have. not sure about 4 doors though...

bmw aust is selling 2 models...the sport and the executive.
all the new executive models comes with the screen now and not the sports version..
on my dads 530i, the tv doesnt work while the car is in motion as well..only when you press the brakes and become stationary that it works..
i think it is against the law to be watching a movie/whatever for the front drivers..
the reception was quite clear in sydney.

Hi,

My car has the screen which was described by suntze. It's an lcd screen which can be used for satnav (in other parts of the world), interfacing with the car's onboard computer (speed limiter, mileage computer, range, temperature...etc) and also to watch tv. As mentioned by Daredveil, you can watch tv only when the handbrake is activated, however you can bypass this if you buy the (TV Bypass Module. I am easily distracted by tv screens, so if I add the bypass module, I'd probably get myself in an accident. The TV module has an AV channel, so theoretically you can connect anything that outputs to component av (i.e. playstations, computer, ipod). The only problem is, I can't find the av-in port. Someone told me that a famous BMW specialist in Jalan Ipoh knows where the av-in port is but I can't imagine any practical use for it as I hardly watch tv in the car as it is. Maybe one day when I run out of things to add to the car..... :p

The monitor for malaysia is for Tv function (only stationary) and also acts as the radio display. Certain 4 door models i.e. official import 330i has this. have to agree that it looks really cool as 99 percent of e46s in Malaysia don't have this feature. Never came across 325 let alone 318s that has the monitor.

i sold 1 unit E46 CI last yr came with tis TV, can watch TV1, 2, 3 n NTV7, some ppl covert to DVD player

yes, mine comes with the screen too, so can watch tv (non-astro channels) when the car's in a stationary position..

Now one question fr me.. Any potong kereta shop that I can find this wide screen monitor for retrofit ah ? Zoggee korkor got jalan ah ?

How does one convert the screen to a DVD player?
Will the OBC functions still be displayed?

The DVD player for the MAP DVD's can't be used to play DVD's I assume?

P/S: dat 1 is 318CI, Japan spec, only Japan spec got this TV.

My Ci is from Park Lane (London) and comes with the tv screen.

The screen is basically like any tv screen. You can output any picture to it. If you are watching tv or dvd, you are in 'tv mode' .The obc will not be displayed on the screen until you switch modes.

In theory, the MAP DVD (sat/nav DVD changer) can be replaced with a DVD-Video Changer but the AV input needs to be switched to the right tv channel (i.e. the AV channel). i don't know how the satnav works cos I've never seen one in action.

If someone here has done it maybe he/she can enlightened us on what to do and how much it'll cost.

Cheers!
