guyz, need ur all opinion...is it ok to switch to semi due to financial reason? my fren use fully syn oil from the first day he uses the car..but now he wanna change to semi. some told me that is ok..not going to effect the engine..

no issues, just shorter service interval between oil changes... and if you don't red line the car on a daily basis, it's ok...

Fab,

why is it when using semi, not supposed to frequently redline as compared to fully?

semi syn breaks down faster so it's better not to put the oil under stress... Not to say that the oil can't take it... But if u want to always hit the high RPM range, better to go with better full syn oil...

The switch is "irreversible".. be it from fully sync to semi sync, or semi sync to mineral.

Next u will ask why, reason being once u downgraded from a "finer" lube to an inferior lube, the engine moving parts tolerance/gap get more loose and when the process is reversed from inferior oil to premium oil, you will start to suffer oil loss because your gap now is bigger due to the failure for inferior oil protection.

if that's the case, means engine wear is a lot aledi...

now I know why people spend money when they can save......but as long as they happy, why not eh?

just for tots - nothing is better than frequent oil change, and this statement is for those who think syn lube can last longer than mineral lube....

:)

On a healthy and properly maintained engine, you can use any oil you like and interchange freely. Not that I didn't say 'mix'.

If you change oil and your engine leaks, it means you need to fix the leaks. It's not the oil's fault.
