can i upgrade my idrive with bigger screen and with GPS? any workshop can do it? how much?

Yes, you can and our club vendor Bimmercoder can retrofit it. Another option is the new Dynavin 8.8 inch with GPS and reverse camera (about RM3.5k).

If GPS is what you want,just use WAZE from your phone. It's one of the best GPS nowadays as it plans your route based on real time traffic info. WAZE tries it's best to ensure your drive to your destination with your E60 530d to be as smooth as Royal Salute! That said....please don't drink and drive!

Just my thoughts as I hardly use my BMW GPS which is utterly useless in my humble opinion.

Totally agree. I was used to tomtom before I got my bmw. While it s great not having to mount an external gps unit to the windshield and the fact that u get the directions on the HUD, I personally think bmw's gps cannot even compare with the likes of tomtom/garmin/marbella. It is sooo bad that I still find myself opening up Waze most of the time.

One think that I really miss about my tomtom is the full zipcode search and the vast contents of POI.

Last but not least, most of them come with free map updates for life whereas BMW charges more than RM1000 for an update!

I just switch on Waze on my mobile, switch volume on high and place the phone on the I-Drive Screen. Works fine! Now, if you got about RM2500 to spare, you can do mirror link.

What mirror link does is to sync your I-drive & mobile phone screen together with its audio. In this way, it allows you to use Waze and watch You Tube videos on the go.

This option is available if you have deep pockets!
