Hi All;This is going to be my first month using BMW car and it teaches me how really i need to be a BMW enthusiast before can starts using a car with BMW badge since it is not just as easy as using a normal Japanese car. Here was the scenario:Was driving on PLUS Highway heading back to Ipoh and felt the car was underpowered and reluctant to increase its speed. Then floored the throttle and gear is engaged to lower gear, and then suddenly heard knocking sound from the engine and slowly revs slow down and finally engine shut down.Tried to crank the engine again but not manage to.BTW my temperature indicator is faulty but i did refill the radiator water before starts the journeyWhen the car is cooling down i opened the radiator cap looks like the the water level was decrease.Tow the car directly to workshop claims need to do top overhaul that cost 2.8k after they done the checking. My questions:1) Is it true that if the temperature went high the car will suddenly stopped?Since i'm also suspecting its might due to the alternator. 2) Or is there like cut off on the ECU to shut down the engine if the temperature goes high?3) Is it true that it will cost you RM2.8k to do top overhaul?4) If the cylinder head is being skimmed ( going to be 2nd time) is it still safe to use thicker gasket to cover the clearance between valves and the piston? Since might be the calculation of the compression will not going to be accurate anymore or might be I need to change the whole cylinder head it self?Dear forummers, your comments is really appreciateble TQ
