BMWCM sifus,I am planning to replace the stock springs on an '07 E92 325Ci with either H&R Sport Springs or Eibach Pro Kit. The H&Rs are RM1,400.00 installed and the Eibach are RM1,200.00. This is a street car and I don't plan to track (well, not yet so far).Would like to ask all sifus here for advise - which one should I choose? Thanks.:top:Fadhlan

Bro,
I have never tried the Eibach Pro Kit, but my car currently runs on Stock Absorber + H&R Sport Springs, the car has a really nice drop to it, about 2 fingers front and back.

Comfort is everything to me, and I swear the comfort level is the same as Stock Springs,
No issues with scraping the bumper on bumps and you don't need to go side ways on bumps. Just be really careful on the really huge ones. It might eventually scrape.

Highly recommend getting the H&R. Btw, I'm driving the same as yours, except mine is E92 320i '09 running on 19" rims.

Hazeriq.

Yes, I am very much inclined to the H&R Sport Springs myself. I'm just a little concerned about the comments on E90post - stiff and harsh rides on uneven roads. I'm glad to know that the comfort is as stock.

I agree on the drop, the H&Rs have nice drops. 2 fingers? Exactly what I was looking for.

Bump is something very Malaysian. Never have I encountered people from other countries considering driving sideways on bumps or scraping the front lip as 'something to worry about' in purchasing springs. In any case, I'm glad I don't have to worry about driving sideways on a bump, so kampung.

Thanks for the input, hazeriq! Appreciate it. :top:

i installed brand-new set of H&R springs on my E34 a little over a year ago. initial impression, perfect! i loved the drop, whilst not too low for basement parking bumps. the ride/handling compromise was also perfect.. i was fearless in corners.

well, that was 12 months ago. now, the springs feel as soft as stock. my car no longer sweeps a bend like it's on rails.. scary even. even a new set of Bilstein B8 didn't help. that will be the last set of H&R springs i buy. sorry.

I had a set of Eibach Pro-Kits on my e46 a few years ago.Loved it.The drop was perfect, ride was in fact better than stock and the handling improvements was just simply great. There was still a slight hint of bodyroll but what I get in return is that when I take a corner on a road that wasn't perfect smooth,it absorbed everything whilst giving me a great cornering stance.U'll have more confidence in taking corners faster and there is not worry of being thrown off the road by a mid-corner bump.

Suspensions don't need to be granite stiff to be good..its how the whole thing works that's important.Wanna control bodyroll? Get thicker anti-roll bars.

I have tried H&R, Eibach Pro, Eibach Sport, Terra etc etc

My opinion - if u want to lower your ride - go for the full setup ie sport shocks and sport springs. One brand comes to my mind - KW (Germany aaa not local). Expensive but I think this is the best setup I have so far ... The next one is - of all brand - Titan ... but not after numerous setting .. :stupid: - which can be painful during the installation ..

hi I just joined the forum today after receiving so many infos online. I just changed my absorbers Bilstein B8 and Eibach pro kit springs..I must say it works very well,....the drop is nice as well. I bought this car 2nd hand and it was using the Bilstein B4 (which is very much close to stock shocks) on the eibach springs. But what the guys at Bilstein told me was that if I were to replace the same B4 absorbers I'd be wasting money because it just wont be able to take on the eibach springs. It would probably last about 6mths - 1 year. So if you are interested to save your current stock shocks do not go for the lowered springs unless you are prepared to change the absorbers soon. The ride on the Bilstein B8 and Eibach springs which I just had a few hours ago well is fine with me...not as harsh as I expected!

KW V2 fits the bill for E9Xs. Otherwise, go for BMW Performance stuff.

+1000, KW V2:top:

Dont waste your time on lowered springs, do it right the 1st time.

After dropping do you guys have ever experienced getting suspension error warnings and/or codes? Particularly the "steering angle sensor". Will an alignment correct these types or errors? What should I look for while installing and after? Any advice is helpful.

There is/are sensor(s) around the area, if you detached and forgotten to put it back 'fault' will be triggered.
If you can work around with and dont touch it, you wont triggered the fault. Even if triggered, the OBC will Self-Cancel after driving it for a while, shouldnt be worried too much.

go with KW's coilover's.. surely no regrets.
i've always started with springs and most of e time ended up with coilovers later.
so waste of money if u ask me, might as well go for coilovers n get it over n done with.
on aftermkt lowering or dress up springs, wen driving hard its scary wen it bottoms out something tt coilover rarely does.

Thank you all for some very insightful comments. Yes, I've read a lot about KW V2 coilovers and I know they are the best choice around if I want to improve on handling. Springs are, well springs.

I agree with E60FANster - get the coilover and be done with it. It's true. Definitely true no doubt about it.

Like David Yong said, it all depends on the budget.

KW V2 Coil Over - RM7,800.00
Eibach Pro Kit Springs - RM1,200.00
H&R Sport Springs - RM1,400.00

Or am I missing something and can get the KW at a lower price somewhere else?

And are they worth it?

Thanks again, fellas!

Maybe cheaper in Singapore .. but I was quoted RM7K in KL couple of weeks ago

Google Autovox - they are the dealer in SG

I paid SGD 650 per piece (excl GST) for the front abs - minus the spring.

Worth it ? .. well with that kind of money - u can get 2 sets of HR Cup kit, B12 Bilstein etc etc ..

My opinion - hell yeah ... but with a big hole in my pocket ..

Check out BMW.SG forum, PM Wilman2772 for a quote. The price down south is likely lower than here. I got mine from S'pore for SGD2500 thereabout in 2007. Check out the vendors in BMW-SG.com for comparisons.

Worth it or not depends individually, perceptions. If you can appreciate the Flexibility of V2, it worths every cts IMO. I love how the ride comfort and handling and the versatility of high-lo adjustment to my preference which lowering springs just wont do. I've set the ride height back and forth 3-4 times to suit my taste which is not easily achieved with springs alone...just remember switching a few times of springs required the hassle of sending the car to do alignment and etc...get the picture?

Whatever we say, spend according to your budget comfortably and make sure you're happy with the result. ok!

Very true and agreeable.

By the way, it is not right to compare just the price of springs with a full suspension set (abs + springs) like KW V2. You need to add the price of abs + the eibach or H&R springs.

I have a set of used bilstein sports kit suspension for sale. Rm 1500 if u r interested. My no. is 012-2232002

Thanks for the feedback, fellas. The suspension is just the tip of the iceberg, really. Next planned mods would be:

1) M-kit + Black Matte Grilles + Black Matte window frames + angel eyes
2) BMW Performance Exhaust System OR Remus Powersound with quad tips
3) BMW Performance Intake System
4) BMW Performance Aluminum Strut
5) Uptune

If it's gonna be a the KW V2 at RM7,000.00+, which sounds very very interesting over the H&R Sport Sptings, the BMW Performance Suspension would also be on the table at RM6,800.00.

Sigh....decisions, decisions, decisions. Life is full of it.

Can out sifus shed some light on my choices?
:hmmmm:
