Fellow Oil Burners,Gotten quite a few queries and interest from fellow brothers here since I got my own tuning kit installed, so I'm starting this thread as a favour for a buddy. Guess there are quite a few out there like me who are looking for non-intrusive extra oomph options for our beloved beasts during the in-warranty period and beyond.

This is the set that a few of us here have already installed, which is the CRD-T. Compared to others I've seen, this set has an added multi channel feature, which means that it not only connects to the common rail pressure sensor, but also to the turbo pressure sensor (see pic below). The result - smoother power delivery, more power/torque & fuel economy! You get 4 different hp/torque curve maps, and 7 boost settings, which give you 28 combination for your tweaking pleasure, hehe. The CRD-T can be installed on all N47D20 BMW diesel engines, and there's guys in the forum who can't live without their sets now, comprising the 320d 177hp/350Nm, 320d 184hp/380Nm and even the mighty F10 520d 184hp/380Nm. You know who you are - no names mentioned, haha!

184bhp -> 224bhp = +21.7%
380Nm - > 475NM = +25%

so Carlsson's powerkitted + BMW performance exhaust car current figures are:
197bhp+3bhp = 200bhp (note: estimated 3 bhp for performance exhaust upgrade)
420Nm+5Nm = 425Nm (note: estimated 5Nm added due to performance exhaust upgrade)

200bhp*1.217 = 243.4bhp!
425Nm * 1.25 = 531.25Nm!

Wow....more torque than a E90/E92 M3/335i and also E60 M5 V10 5liter (520NM)!!

Doubt that is true mainly because the power kit remap and the tuning box are basically tweaking the same settings. I don't think there will be an overlap or a direct increase in power.

If the tuning box can achieve more power, then it should overwrite the power kits figures (since the tuning box is indeed hijacking the signals from the ECU and translating it's figures to the engine). That means you get the cooling features with the power kits larger intercooler and radiator fan.

Can it be achieved?

Am not too sure what does the new ECU in the powerkit package did to the overall performance. Bigger intercooler/fan are consider hardware improvement mah....
Anyway, can temporary put Maniac's unit into the powerkitted car and do a dyno for real world record.

Sounds simple, will it be an issue or can it cause damage to the car?

pretty impressive figures for the CRD-T stage 2

320D D E90 184 PS Stage 2 (CRD-T)
135 (184 PS) 166 (224 PS) 380 Nm 475 Nm

carlsson, u try on your car first, see how, then other powerkitted car will do another GB!

WOI! don't anyhow volunteer my unit la!
...but there's an experiment i'd like to see! Since i also wanna dyno my car soon, which powerkitty-ed fella wants to join me? :)

when u plan to dyno bro?

Teletubes your engine should be the same. Go for it, I've had it for some time and it's great!

I want to tag along to see this historical experiment......powerkit+DTUK, on maximum setting, theoritically more torque than E60 M5's 520Nm!

I am still waiting for my powerkit to arrive but was promised sometime this week or next week. Once it is in, I do intend to dyno the car so perhaps it can be done at the same time? Personally I would expect perhaps minor improvements such as around 10-20hp more and around 30-40Nm of torque more compared to the Powerkit figures or maybe even less. Because from my experiences with tuning boxes from the UK as well as the their maps, its hard for us to achieve the same power figures here due to our weather conditions and humidity.

yup! gameover's right. the new diesel x3 is running the same N47, so it's DTUK-able.
for information, we learned during the powerkit launch that only the 184hp e90's can be powerkitted, due to gearbox compatibility.
the 177hp 320d's, f10d's and f30d's have to look for other options for the time being.

To be specific:

Early E90 320d: tuning box only
Newer E90 320d: tuning box or Powerkit
X1 20d: tuning box only
X3 20d: tuning box only
E60 520d: tuning box only
F10 520d: tuning box only
F30 320d: ???

The Powerkit that BMW Malaysia brings in is only for the 184hp engine plus 6-speed AT so anyone with an 8-speed AT is out of luck.

the new f30d has an 8cog GB, so i reckon the powerkit's not compatible, similar to the f10d's. does anyone know?
