1) Nothing terminal but costly wear and tear repairs! Pls. refer to relevant thread for discussion of chronic repairs;
2) Can be a tad mundane at low-end but gets gutsy at higher-ends. Loses a wee bit to E36 328i in sprints due to lower torque. Smooth and refined power delivery tho and nice soundtrack;
3) RM296K for 325i Exclusive (new)
4) Big difference with CBU models. Build quality and specs should be much better in CBU;
5) It's a bigger car compared to E36, so expect some deficiencies which can be remedied with suspension enhancements. Go for facelifted version to get uprated suspension and sharper steering!

Check out Juan's post again. He's covered almost all the important areas of concern. Repairs and upkeep will be higher than the E36 but given time, parts and spare prices will come down as with the E36 now. The face-lifted E46 models get revised suspension and steering geometry and etc ... personally find them better to drive but this is subjective.
But if you ask me - go for it. Think too long and you might lose a good deal. Will have a long chat with my bank manager this week and see if I can join you later this year .... Ahahahahaha !!!

Yes E46 325i is a goood choice. But i would recommend looking for a 2nd hand one that s partially or fully done up to your liking. It will work out to be cheaper if u intend to modify some of the looks.
Its too expensive to buy mod parts for E46, in comparison to a Jap car. but thats how i feel, lets see if some other forumers feel the same way too.
At this moment in time, i would say 2nd hand isthe way to go!

any 325 e46 owner can give me the needed info?
1) any probs with the car so far?
2) performance?
3) market price
4) any diff between CBU and CKD model?
5) handling?
answer:
1) i do not like the steering feel during high speed. better get the e90 325.... so far, my car has no problems
2) performance? so subjective. anyway, van told me that u test drove the e46 325 n u said 325 no power. what u want, acceleration or top speed? acceleration, go for forced induction cars eg: evo9, rb26, 2jz, s15 n etc. top speed. how fast u wanna go? 300km/h enough?
anyway, i'm satisfied with my car's torque n my top speed so far is 240km/h

6) since u are looking for bmw n more powerful than ur current 328, i suggest u get the e46 330 or e90 330 or e60 330 or e46 m3 or 645.......
