Based on my experience, when the bushing get worn out, the hydraulic oil which is pressurised will escape out rather than back to the oil sump. This means any metal filling will be purge out. However, to drive the car without ATF will result in metal filling contaminate the GB and will damage the GB.If budget is a constraint, just ask the shop to change the aux pump. Inspect the GB for any contaminant. If there are no contaminant, proceed to change the aux pump only. Take the risk. (I have done that after the workshop told me when they remove the aux pump). However, if they do find contaminant, then it is better to do the overhaul. Recon GB are just GB that are broken. The workshop just change all the parts based on the repair kit. Take note the aux pump might be old for recon GB.try to get another opinion from another workshop.</blockquote>
