Sounds like a great getaway! I guess if were to plan during that period, many must have to forego their "balik Kampung" trip to see their love ones.

Calendar check: 3rd Feb (Thursday), 1st day of Chinese New Year

Did the CM considered or checked on the festive seasons before deciding on the dates? Do bear in mind, festive seasons are usually for family and relatives.

Will certainly join if departure is changed to a later date. Cannot depart on 3rd Feb as it is 1st day of CNY.

They must have overlooked or slipped off their minds. Afterall I think the dates are not confirmed... Depends the response . Since it maybe an official event, I guess the CM will reconsider the dates and reschedule.

How I wish we have a calendar of all official events and not ad hoc for year 2011 since none in 2010,...Echo :rock:

i think there are some problem over here,1st is CNY holiday most of them will be celebrating with family or balik kampung.2nd 6D5N is a bit too long cause some of them might keep their holiday for other event or they have to keep their holiday for their own vacation and some company might not approve for it .just my 2 cents.

There seems to be a communication issue here: QD250 (Secretary) started this thread and Chili e30 (committee) justifying with his '2 cents' why the dates chosen arent suitable. To QD250 and Chilie e30: Wasnt this event/drive discussed, planned and agreed upon during your committe meeting before making this post?

Nothing wrong with going away for vacation during CNY. Cos no need to give ang pow mah.. hahaha...

Anyway, have heard before that in Koh Samui, that there might be a bit of a problem getting fully halal food... it's ok if members are moderate as in doesn't mind as long as there's no pork in the food... There are some extreme muslims who must eat in a totally halal outlet, that may be an issue...

Keen on the trip and works for me during CNY break. I do agree though that if there is support from our brothers and sisters who are celebrating CNY, then we should reconsider the dates. Then should be non monsoon time, so our cars should be safe
