Collected my 520i 3 weeks ago after delaying for so long. Just filled up my 3rd full tank after 690km of journey with on board screen showing additional 99km more to go. However, while I fill up my 3rd tank, the screen shows 939km available while I remember 2nd tank showed 787km. Why is it so much differences? The first tank is quarter tank plus come during delivery. Also I would like to ask, what is the logo below the fuel comsumption. It supposed to be the average km per hour but after almost 1000km of journey, it increased from 19km to the current reading of 31.3km per hour. Same goes to the fuel consumption reading. It went from 18litre to the current 11.1 litre. Is this normal, especially the average speed reading?

For mixed urban driving, ave speed of 30kph is not abnormal. Mine is abt 40kph. As your ave speed goes up under normal driving conditions, your fuel consumption generally improves.

Its quite normal for your average speed or consumption to be volatile initially until u clock enough distance for your average to settle.

Based on the tank size of 70L and claimed fuel consumption on 6.4L/100km, a full tank theoretcally can take you about 1,000km. But at 11L/100km, you shld be getting between 600-700km.

6 months with the car. I am averaging 10L/100km, mixed urban. Its quite consistent.
Consumption improves with run-in, its now doing about 650km per tank of RM110 (RON95)

My screen does show 900km plus. Wonder why?

Also, how possibly can we achieve 6.5l as claimed by bmw.

My sister who has an incredibly light right foot and drives mainly on highways is getting 4.8L/100km vs claimed FC of 320d of 4.5L/100km. So its not impossible to get close to the claimed FC figure.. Also note that claimed FC is based on euro spec fuel, ie RON98, which gives slightly better performance.

My dad is very happy with the F10 520i's consumption. He said it's more than 20% better than his old 6 pot E240

I once achieved 7L/100km from KL to Seremban on ECO PRO mode.

Wow! That's impressive. My best is still 10.8l, now hovering btw 10.8-11

7L/100km is for that particular journey only (read it from the journey computer). My average consumption is 10.1L/100km.

How accurate is the consumption reading? Anyone compared it to using the tank fill up method?

Anyone know normally when is the first service when u buy the car with Ingress? The sales person didn't inform me.

TrincyLim,

Your car onboard computer should prompt you for servicing the car. Either by mileage or by time (due before reached you recommended mileage), look up for the screen prior to start you car or right after you started your car. Unless yours is the ///M, which require a 'run in' service or check. My 1st service 'reminder' appeared @ +/-6500 km.

Thanks ahloong2. I saw it n it indicates another 17,000km to service where I'm currently on 2000km+. So is it normal to have first service at 20,000km? Thanks.

you have just posted the million dollar question: should we follow the (ridiculously lengthy) service interval..?

Agreed. .. else u will be suprised to see ur engine oil turn to dodol. ...

i have seen quite a number of dodol cases in E90s which the owners adhered religiously to the recommended interval since day 1.

I guess the interval for service will take consideration on both mileage and duration, it should be 10k (20k is slightly longer than I expected) or 6 months whichever come first. As I notice earlier, my car show me the mileage on next service and now it shows the date is due for service. You may call BMW care line to verify.

Trincy, i wont tell you exactly when to service your car in the open for I dont have the time to be cross-examined by so called experts here as if I am a 25 yr old who just bought his first BMW. I replaced my air filter element after 7.5k and for that i was made to explain myself why i wasted money. I mean, wtf?? PM me for my honest opinion, it will be my pleasure.
