Does the 520d come with adaptive xenon where it turns left and right?Have tried seeing it turn like YouTube videos but no luck. Also, normally when adaptive, the lights turn left and right on start up instead of just up and down. Mine just up and down. Anyone can confirm? Would be disappointed if it didn't have.

520d doesn't have adaptive xenon, also doesn't have the high beam assist thing... Even the 528i m sport doesn't have these feature... only has auto levelling...

Why disappointed???

This will be the case of owner selling car within a year because did not check specs properly before buying. So what if it doesn't come with adaptive lights, it's not light you're running a touge of noght drift?

I've just came back from Kertih at 0200 hours last week and the light works ok without adaptive. Not great but ok.

Well I drive outstation a lot, every week in fact, and such small features do make a difference. I bought the car for long distance driving. Small features like these add to the overall experience. It was my mistake of not going through the specifications before buying it and will learn from it. I didn't have the time and let my office go through all the processes as was in a rush to get a second car. The parallel import f10 had such features and expected the official dealer to have such basic options available. Another problem is the lack of a through-loading boot where I can't lower the rear seats.

Primus2211, "not great but OK" is what I think about the lights as well. I don't expect a car at this level to be "not great but OK". I do actually enjoy night drives through Ulu Yam and Kuala Kelawang. I wouldn't use this car for it, but do try it sometime to fully understand the difference between adaptive and non-adaptive. I am sure drives to East Coast through Karak or even KB would be very different with and without such lights. Many corners without proper signages and even came across motor bikes without any lights, which you spot too late sometimes. These lights do help make it safer.

Anyway, the BMW driving experience has been great. Its comfortable and economical which is what I bought if for. Only 18L of diesel from Singapore to KL. The sales experience was terrible though with Quill. The sales girl promised many features like 5 years service which I didn't end up getting because it was a "rumor". I still have the SMS saying book now and you'll get the 100k km free service.

Will be more thorough next time round buying a car.

i think even the 528i doesnt comes with adaptive headlights, only 535i and above. =)

pretty normal to be disappointed when many cheaper cars come with this function and if you were to be upgrading from a lesser brand to a bmw you'd feel slightly cheated by bmw malaysia.

that and i still can fathom how comfort access has been removed from most of the 3 & 5 series range and probably some other models too. even a kia forte has it.

A RM588k BMW X5 doesn't have Comfort Access either. Neither does it have keyless start.

There's something really wrong with the specs of BMW cars in Malaysia. It's like you get the body and the engine... and not much else.

can't agree more paul.. to me, comfort access is a MUST in a car with smart key system nowadays. i feel ashame even to my wife when she asks me either the bmw has the keyless entry like her kia forte which cost just under RM100k (when i say to her my plan to buy a bmw nextyear.. huhu)

even if comparing to other premium brand, the E250 merc and A6 also got the keyless entry system. if not standard, its still can be opted as optional item.

Same situation here on the other side of the strait :(. I guess the main concern for BMW Malaysia (and Indonesia, too) is to shaft their customers and have a fat/thick/ample profit. BMW Malaysia (and Indonesia) if you are reading this?

i think the problem now is bmw malaysia, like bmw globally is basically doing too well in their sales cause there's simply no competition for bmw in terms of a car that drives really nicely, has sufficient performance and yet remains the most environmentally friendly of the bunch but i think it won't be hard for other companies to catch up. tbh, the specs of the bmw cars aren't that bad, but it should be much better so one won't have to feel totally "wtf this car costs less and you get all these stuff" when one test drives a peugeot 508.

Specced my 523i F10 with Visibility Package that adds up the xenon headlights, adaptive headlights, high beam assistant and headlight washer system. The additional cost was around Eur 1360. It was well worth it especially when driving on highway or long journey with the auto cruise control function on. The high beam assistant was very convenient.

I think BMW Malaysia should just spec it lah, also the sports automatic transmission and the rear view camera, those options are not that expensive.

Let me ask you guys

Have any of you ever seen your f10 headlamp washers work?

Does our f10 even have headlamp washers?

Xenon must come with washers in Europe. Mandatory by law.

Paultan, lol good question. I saw the holes for it. Not sure if it has ever triggered cause u would see the water stain from it.

I did not really bother the washer but the adaptive headlights and high beam assistant are the one that I want.

Check this out. Just sharing.

No washers. Even with my headlight on, I sprayed a few times n no washer. Did they just give the cutouts without the washers?

If the car is not moving, there would be shampoo stain on it, but when the car is moving, it wont leave any stain as the winds will blow the shampoo off the headlights..

The SKD version has no headlamp washers... i asked the service personal

So if washers are compulsory with xenon in Europe by law, there must be a reason right? Why Malaysian consumers cannot have it if it's so important? Cacat specs.

It seems that it is used to demist or defrost something as the water will be heated before spraying on the headlamp... while our country is warm enough not to fit the headlight washer gua...
