[QUOTE="ICEMAN 68, post: 367665, member: 17"] with the 6k price tag i would rather get another type of engine ...etc m42 , m20 or m50 .. m40 legendary problem of lifter noise is a norm and this may set you somewhere around 1.5K to 2K to a top overhaul. items that you may be looking at are worn out cam lobes , lifter and the rocker arm .... cam's will set you close to rm600. lifter will set you close to rm 500 and the arms around another 3 to 400 ...well this is what they usually quote without the labour.... and after all these , you may soon get back the lifter sound say about 6 months usage and depends on how frequent you do an oil change .... so in short i would rather leave the m40 and get another engine , " if i need to spend rm6k " i won't say m40 is not a good engine , but it needs extra care and frequent oil change to pro long it's life span. used an m40 for 8 years and well it served me well i would say ...
