Just took delivery of a last batch E90. Soundproofing is lousy. When a motorbike overtake me, the noise just enters the cabin. Doesn't give me the cocooned feeling like older BMWs. Even my old E36 has better noise insulation.

Has anybody done soundproofing with stuff like Sikadamp or Dynamat? Appreciate feedback if that will help.

Check with CM Bemmerback aka Kenneth as he has installed noise reduction material for his F10 and other cars.

thanks Herbert. People used to do these insulation in an attempt to achieve the Conti car feel. Now Bimmers also have to do that. Must be due to CKD cut cost.

It's relatively quiet in the E92, therapeutic at times. However at high speeds, those above 200 the wind noise can be harrowing at times, sounds similar to driving with the windows down at 100, guess that's the trade off with frameless windows. I'm not too sure about the whole CKD CBU debate but I've heard that CKD standards aren't on par with CBU ones.

CBU ones are definitely better. In my old CBU e39, sound insulation is so fantastic that I can't really hear motorbike approaching from the back.

This morning when the road was wet, I could hear the water splashing sound hitting the door. Not happy about it.
