Hi bro Kudeen, where are you in UK? I'm in Bristol myself. How much are you expecting to pay the import tax for the 535d? The reason I'm asking is recently there's been a massive hike in the import tax quotations, a friend who brought back a Merc C-Class C240 (2.6L) year 2003/2004 had to pay RM42k in taxes two weeks ago. Thats the final figure he got after all the appeals. Normally such car and age could expect to pay around RM30k, possibly RM25k only. Before this there are guidelines to prices, but tax officers can lower or higher the tax valuations based on the condition of the car. Whether have rust, dents, tired interior would have lowered the tax valuations. But now there are fixed prices for it and the cheapest band is only '5 years and above' whereas the old system allows cars above 5 years old to be lowered by every 10% for every year that passes by. Example: Old system has '5 years old' car which priced the tax at RM50k, 6 years old would be 10% less to be RM45k, and 7 years old would be 10% less than that which is RM40.5k and so on. Now with the '5 years and above' system its fixed at RM50k even for a 10 years old car. I have a E39 530i Sport myself, and had arrived in Port Klang two weeks ago. Will have to stay there until I go back after raya. Was expecting to pay around the RM30-35k mark but with this new developent I'm kinda scared now. From the official fixed price customs docket, a 4 year old 535d is priced at RM45,977 CIF (Cost, Insurance and Freight), and from the last time I contacted customs 2.5 to 3.0 engine the tax stands at 192%++. This brings the import tax on your car to be RM88,275 before any appeals. I'm no customs officer, just guessing based on the info I have with me. I might be wrong. Damn the taxes. :stupid:
