This is sickening, and lame. AB knows fully well the new E60 has lots of problems with the window motors.

Stranger, do you mean that the window motor prob with all e60 or only ckd models...?

Are you suggesting me not to tint my window at all?

Boydf,

It's a worldwide E60 issue. Many owners have complained about it, and I have my driver side going bonkers every now and then. So far I heard it's the motor but my serviceman told me it could be fixed with reprogramming. I will take his words with a very big spoonful of salt though.

I am not suggesting you avoid tinting your windows. Since you know their stand, perhaps you should trash it out with AB if you want to tint your windows. Or, you make sure all your windows have no problems first before you decide your next step.

Just to answer one of your original questions. I have v-kool (no, my driver's side went crazy from day 1; so not caused by this), and I can definitely feel the difference. I was driving around without it for 7-8 months before I did it up.

Stranger,

Thanks for the advise. I've made up my mind not to tint or even do anything to the car....at least i could claim on the warranty....

Hope in the future you could share your knowledge on the e60....

Thanks again.

what a joke!!!

To avoid engine overheat, auto bavaira has advised all E60 owners to keep their car at home, not to drive them around especial on hot hazzy day. This is too to prevent the compressor from working too hard. Clogging of your air filter and microfilter. AB will not be responsble for the engine meletup under these conditions.

So, what should we do? Built a pedestal for the car to show off lah.

The e60 525i and above already comes with Comfort Glass which is a lamination. The 520i or any other cars for that matter will need certainly need it for Malaysian weather.

I did put a V-kool on my 525 it really reduce the heat. But mine is darker compare to the normal v-kool.

I have try out the 525 from AB without V-kool I really feel the different.

But as usuall please ensure all your windows working well before you fix the v-kool because I drive on the 525 by AB (curtousy car) the rear windows sangkut.

guys,

I got 3 q's:

1. i accidentally reset the km/h on the "OBC" menu.....that previously stated 240....how to set it back....?

2. my phone, nokia 6600 can be connected via bluetooth with the iDrive, but how to communicate via the speaker? Others works perfectly....

3. i realise that in the manual got the tuner for "acoustic hi-fi" on the entertainment menu.....why its not there?.....thought that 530d is installed with the hi-fi speaker system....

Hope all the guru's cld assist me....thanks in advance...

(1) I'll go check my OBC and see where the 240km/h is appearing tonight.

(2) I use a Nokia 3230 and have managed to syn the bluetooth with the car. So now when ever I get into the car, I had config my phone to auto accept the car's bluetooth and it automatically hooks up. When ever I make a call or receive a call, the iDrive will ask if I want to accept the call or not and the radio/CD will turn off and come on again when I hang up. It took me a long time to figure this bluetooth thingy out!!

(3) The acoustic hi-fi is not available in all models. I'll check my manual and iDrive tonight too.

Cheers!

johnchen,
i manage to solve those 3 probs....
1. It will detect by itself as you drive.
2. Dont really care whether it will sync via bluetooth thingy.....penat brader...
3.Got to know that only first batch of 530d (still X-file) & 745 comes with acoustic tuner / logic 7.....b&o system brader....

Just another thing, tried my car between 180-220 km/h (towards putrajaya)-not advisable before 2000km for new car, but for me...just wanna try-out, i can hear somekind of wind sound.....is that normal for e60? I think for 530d, 500Nm is too much for e60......goddamn it.....its too fast & dont think the DSC can absorb during cornering.....300Nm to 350Nm of torque should be good for the car.....just to share my thoughts....

I find it impossible not to hear the sound of wind at speeds of 180+km/h. Pending windy conditions, this sound is inevitable. I sometimes hear this sound even at lower speeds when I take my e60 for a spin. Can all e60 owners confirm this, or should the rubber door lining be changed.

Cheers

I really hope you are joking Montoya. Where did you get this info from?

When I took delivery of my e60, the first thing I asked the salesgirl was where is the temp gauge, she of course said "no need temp gauge this model" aka "what is temp gauge...duuh"
This is now a concern of mine. Even the manual doesn't say where to find the gauge (or similar). Is anyone else concerned about this.

Cheers

I was told by my salesman that the car will NOT overheat, so you do not need temperature guage

I had sent my car back to AB cos had some creaking sound coming from the doors when going over bumps and corners. Apparently it is the door rubber lining which was not good quality. So they changed it for me under warrenty. No problems since.

I took it over 210kmph once on the way to and back from PD. Wind noise is there but quite common and usually coming from the rear mirrors. My old RX300 was even louder!

At 5000km I got the oil and filter changed even though recommendation is 25,000km. Cost me around RM500 to do that. So now I have much more confidence in flooring the pedal to the metal!!

johnchen,

Those whistling sound is via my windscreen...so they sealant it...& the windsound is via my sunroof...they've adjusted *god knows what*....i'd assume it's gone since got no time to try-out  .....hopefully in one or two days time this week....

About this temp gauge, i did ask the technician in AB, they mentioned the car didn't have it. Why?....man...he cant answer me, probably we need to ask bmw ag guys....

The whistling sound I think from the top of the windscreen. It's also a known problem to BMW. I can't remember the cause.

As for the temp gauge, it's always sitting at the centre (~90degC) unless there is something wrong. Cost cutting from BMW? I hope the car will warn when the temp goes up.

In fact the info is there in the hidden menu on the dash. I tried to take a picture but my phone doesn't take good pictures at night (even day time in fact).

I remember reading in some magazine that BMW have done away with the temp gauge on the E60 as they felt is is not needed. Infact the E90 shares the same instrument cluster so they too will not have a temp guage.

The temp that's shown in the dash is the outside air temp, not the engine temp...unless I'm mistaken.

Nop. I am talking about a hidden menu. My outside temp can be 80-90degC. :D
