Hi all,Am planning to get a unit of reverse camera and do a DIY install. Most shops been quoting about RM180-200 for a normal E46 reverse camera with installation.Have since surveyed around the web and found a few plug and play unit (camera and LED to place 1 side of the rear license plate light, no drilling or mods required) which costs only about RM80-100 with CCD sensors (compared to conventional CMOS which most of the shops are selling). Not sure if these are cameras with real CCD sensors or it's just a marketing gimmick but sellers claimed better resolution and PQ compared to CMOS.Anyone here have purchased/installed any and able to provide recommendations on which specs or particular camera to go for?

Hi Bro wingzee,

Not a recommendation or anything but just sharing my experience with reverse camera. Bought mine from the auction site for RM100 when installing the carputer. Quite happy with the camera and comes with range guiding markers. Also added an override switch so that it can be used when driving forward, good visibility in the day or night. It has CCD written on the box but don't know if it's really.

Put it on Bro and back up with confidence!

Thread is not good without pix, so here are some

Hi bro, thanks for sharing. Is it a plug & play unit ie. fits just nice without any modifications required? Coz I did some reading and apparently certain models might not fit your license plate lights compartment nicely due to some minimal difference in size. The common measurements that I came across are:

- 72.5mm x 32mm
- 74mm x 31mm

Is RM100 inclusive of postage? Sounds like a good deal to me.

Bro wingzee,

It does fit fine but not perfectly fine. The inside had to be ground to sit flush like the earlier picture. When the bootlid grip was replaced because the chrome one failed, I didn't grind it so now the camera protrudes out a bit more.

Link where it was bought : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Car-Rear-View-Reverse-Backup-CAMERA-For-BMW-E46-X3-X5-/260709035894?

Hah it's not CCD

Found these from the same seller. Claimed it's Sony CCD. The next is CCD HD at 3 bucks cheaper. Hahahaha.
