Welcome Phangky, I've heard a lot about the great pleasure of driving E39s regardless if it's a 520i or a 530i. Having drove a couple of my frens' 5er (520i & 525i), comfort level is 2nd to none. Due to the depreciation, one could get a fairly decent one from as low as RM120k i.e. 1996 528i. But you'll have to be ultra careful when selecting the right 5er. There are a lot of immaculate ones out there which are seldom driven and vice versa. If the car has been maintained regularly by the owner, chances are that most major problematic wear and tear parts have been replaced after the 5th year or so. That's why I would rather buy a 5 year old car compared to a 3-4 year old one as that's usually when problems starts setting in. Am I right - all the 5er owners out there? I know people who enjoyed trouble-free ride since I met them in this forum and those who spent thousands (usually 2 digit) on maintenance costs a year. It's a game of chance. Nobody can really guarantee the health of the car once the warranty period ends. If you've been driving an E36 318i, even the 520i would be pleasurable. It's afterall a 6 cylinder as well. Lower roadtax, same shape. Hahahaha....If you feel you need a little more ooomph...go for either the 523i or 525i double vanos edition. For a year 2000 one, be prepared to fork out between RM160k-RM170k for a good condition one. Not a master of E39 even though I would love to own one in the near future. Preferably a 530i.....ekekek...... Good luck in searching for an ultimate E39! Check out Chin Motor in Sunway. They have pretty good condition used BMWs there. B)
