Anyone can advise what is the average lifespan of the front original absorbers/dampers? Do you change the strut mount bearing the same time?

8-10 years on standard springs.top mount change based on condition.

Deep,

From my personal experience, whether Sach or Boge should at least last for 5 to 7 years (normal daily drive). Would be advisable to replace the top mounting plate and the dust cover as well. In as far as replacement of the spring, there are 2 school of thoughts...some say replace it and some say no need.

Replacement based on mileage? Certainly YES if you go by BMW's recommendation. But in reality, most of us won't until or unless we feel the stability of the car has been compromised.

Strut Assembly has 5 main components.

1. Front Spring Strut/Front Absorber - recommend to change when leaking detected, damping deteriorates significantly or at 100k km mileage if unable to judge damping condition.

2. Coil Spring - designed to last lifetime of vehicle. No need to change unless a change in ride height detected.
3. Additional Shock Absorber/Bump Stopper - change when seen physically torn or damaged. Normally made of Polyurethane material. Lower lifespan for aggressive drivers. Recommended to change with Absorber.
4. Guide Support/Strut Mount Assembly - consist of rubber and bearing. Bearing have lifespan of vehicle. Rubber will damage and cause noise on secondary ride condition. Recommended to change at 200k km.
5. Rubber Boot/Dust Cover - change when physical damage detected. Should be fine for 200k km but recommended to change with absorbers at 100k km.

These may help some
Cheers
