BMW e39 520i 2.2 Year 2002 A. Following are details on cost to replace brake disk & pads, abosrbers and related items to resolve clunking sound. Done on 26 April 2008 at M Speed Auto Service, Taman Ind. Subang 1. 2 pcs Front absorber - RM960 2. 2 pcs Front absorber mounting - RM200 3. 2 pcs front absorber aux damper - RM 70 4. 2 pcs front absorber cover - RM40 5, 2 pcs upper arm - RM740 6. 2 pcs lower arm - RM740 7. 2 pcs link rod - RM200 8. 2 pcs side rod - RM360 9. 2 pcs front brake pads - RM180 10. 2 pcs brake discs - RM600 11. 1 pc brake wear sensor - RM40 12. Wheel alignment - RM25 13. Labour to carry out above - RM 140 Total Bill - RM 4,295.00 B. Following was done on 2 May 2008 at the same place as mentioned above. The following was done to rectify slight vibration felt at steering wheel when stationary: 1. 2 pcs Engine mounting - RM350 2. 2 pcs Gear box mounting - RM 100 Total - RM450 C. Following was done on 27 Oct 2007 at the same place. This was to rectify erratic idling and engine vibration when stationary. 1. 1 pc vent hose - RM 85 2. 1 pc water hose - RM150 3. 1 pc vent pipe - RM140 4. Pressure valve - RM230 5. 1 pc vent pipe (or something like that) - RM145 6. 1 pc return pipe - RM145 7. 1 pc wiper tank cover - RM13 8. 1 pc reservoir hose - RM55 9. 1 pc blower air hose - RM 90 10. 7 litre engine oil (synthetic) + oil filter - RM338 11. Labour to do the above - RM 120.00 Total cost : RM1,511 D. Following was done at ES Auto Air Con Service at Jalan Gasing. This was to rectify problem with aircon - cold at times, most of the time not cold. 1. Receiver dryer switch - RM190 2. Compressor - RM1,650 3. To vacuum and compressor oil & gas - RM60 4. 1 set o ring - RM15 5. Labour charge - RM90 Total cost - RM2,005 Therefore total cost spent so far since I bought the car (2nd hand) in May 2007: RM4,295+RM450+RM1,511+RM2,005 = RM8,261 Well what can I say. Never Have I spent that much in maintaining my previous cars (Perdana, Waja, Volvo 144s, Peugeot, Ford escort, Saga, Corona, Wira, Sonata)...even if I were to add the maintenance cost for all the cars that I have owned. However must admit the BMW is definitely the Ultimate Driving Machine but alas it is also the Ultimate Costly Machine. Any advise is welcome on the parts that I have replaced. Not sure if I really need to have changed certain parts. TQ New update as at 10 May 2008. Decided to replace the Petrol Pump (though I do not face any problems), as advised by my mechanic. Since 2002 have not been replaced and since I will be driving outstation soon, decided to go for it. Fuel Pump - RM 950 (original BMW) Fuel level sensor - RM350 Total cost - RM 1300
