Fellow e39s,As some of you might have already know that my suspension has already worn out. So, took the plunge and replaced it with the Bilstein and Eibach combination. But, only 1 word can describe my feelings now on this new set of suspension and that is, ALAMAK!!! Reason being I found it too stiff to my liking. Got to get use to it or else, will think of changing it again. :(

Have you changed the rims to 18" as well? I'm replacing my car's M-Tech shocks with Bilstein but keeping the M-Tech spring. Hopefuly the ride will remain the same.

bm5,As you advised, I'm currently looking out for a good used set of wheels.

18" wheels?! like that the 1 word to describe your feeling after putting them on what u perceived as already 'too stiff' could well be... FARK...

Well, I'm still in thinking mode. That's because I've sat in other vehicles and find the ride not bad. But don't why I feel different on my ride.

oh, like dat... i'm guessing you're on bilstein sport... mine (e34) recently changed to bilstein touring and eibach springs... found them a bit soft!

bm5,What happened to your M-Tech shocks?

erica,Yep, mine is on Bilstein sport. And you are on touring, just the opposite of mine. Just curious, why didn't you try the sport from beginning?

fuhrer,Thanks for your advise. I'm thinking of re-filling my tyres with nitrogen and test it out to see if there's any difference. Meanwhile, I'll give it a try by letting it set a bit.

sports too stiff for me since most of the time i drive like old man... say on a scale of 1 (softest) to 10 (stiffest), i would rate sport an 8 and stock boge's a 2... 1 would be something like mine just before changing them due to old age (a bit like sampan at sea)... was hoping touring+prokit would be around 5/6 but it's probably a 3.5 - and the right rear is too low... everyday bite my teeth going out/coming back to apartment coz the car hits the farking bump at the guard house... knnccb

Erica, i thought I was the only scrapping humps and bumps....there is a solution, will pass it to you FOC!

Al, any solution (even at a price) most appreciated! what do you think about using another set (different make) of rear springs (to increase firmness and height)? not comfortable with the idea of using different makes front/rear but thinking of trying out...

Will pass you something la, since i got it FOC from a forumer share share with you :DLKW, if you interested there could be one forumer who may wanna exchange the shocks with you. He is on the bilstein touring but felt its soft for his liking.Personally every car's suspension is different and each driver has their own preference. I was on Bilstein sport but found it too harsh for daily driving and hence a change to the touring which is fine with me, firmer than originals but not harsh at all.Al

AL,I'm interested to try out the Bilstein touring before plunging again. Also, for your friend to test out my vehicle first. You can PM me for arrangements.

LKW3,Why not try custom set up.........??? TITAN.... heard a lot of good words about them......they can set up the spring and shocks combination to your taste.......... :pJeff

When you buy the Bilstein sport or yellow there are 2 specs. 1 is the shorter version that goes with lowered cars ( shorter springs) & another is the so called normal length. The shorter ones will be a bit hard but that again depends on the each individual. I tried from stock to bilstein black with eibach, black with ori springs & yellow with Eibach. Since you commented on looking for wheels, how old is your tired & what tires are you using. Tires can also effect the ride of your car. Maybe before you get rid of the Bilstein + Eibach combo, chg your wheels & tires 1st. Then only decide if you can or cant live with it.

AlvinSo, which combo are you having now? How's the ride & which one do you prefer?Heard that you are doing winter testing this Wed.......... B)

bmfivei have the ori springs & bilstein black. I think too soft even though better that the ori shocks. i would suggest to go yellow but not the shorter ones with your Mtech. Should be good. Or Konis adjustables. Yup winter testing this Wed. Heard that you might be doing some testing on the same day also. ;)
