My door rubber (sticking to the car body) for all the 4 doors is all worn out and the driver seat rubber is broken :( Any sifu's out there that knows where i can get this done at a lower cost ? currently outside they charge me rm 260 per door. :(

i'm running on an e34... i followed blackhowling's style.. i used c22 vanette sliding door lining rubber to replace my worn out original door linings. rm40+- each door.

Cool. so i just buy that rubber and install it ? do you think it will fit my e36 door. ?

One more question ? where to get it ? mind telling me the shop name and where ? i never buy anything from spare part shop before, i usually just order from my workshop and they charge my CFO(DAD) a BOMB !

actually i got that from my hometown in teluk intan. but im pretty sure there are shops in klang valley which can source the door lining for you.

I have just bought 1 pc to try out on my E36 later.. (its raining now... ) 1pc (long piece) - RM55.
Not sure if it can fit 2 doors on the E36 or not.

Confirm not enough for 2 doors. For sure it requires at least 1.5 of these rubbers for one coupe door. So just buy 3. 1 of it just cut half-half.

guys...I tried using a c22...but its just too thick? did I get the wrong item? on the packaging it mentioned "LH Side". If I attach it to the door, I only have about 1 ft of wastage. Is the c22 sliding door that small or did the spare part shop give me the wrong item?

Urgent help!. Thanks.

It is a bit thicker than ori bmw. U just have to smack your door harder that's it. Over time it'll be softer.

by mean of wastage, meaning you have extra left overs? I had about 2ft extra the last time i did.

Hi.....I don't know if e36 is different from e34. I forgotten to say I have a e34 and I just noticed that I posted in the e36 forum. Anyhow, no matter how hard I slam my door, I cannot shut it. Plus I notice that the c22 doorseals have metal brackets inside as if molded together with the rubber.

I did the rubber seal change with my e34. Yes it has metal brackets inside, that is for the rubber to grip the car body better. Maybe you should try making small slits with a knife (on the rubber that is) at the corners of the door frame. As the bending of the rubber at these corners, increases it's thickness.

So far the seals are fine on my e34. Just, it was a bit hard closing the door during the first few months. And I didn't have to do any slits on the corners.

Good info here...
Yes this items (door weather strip ) can buy at any spare parts shop...
this is a replacement items normally can use on any cars...
You can buy according to the needs and I have use it on my Fiat 124 ST...
Make sure the joints meet put at the bottom of the car body..

hi Lylia,

Thanks for your help. However, there is no way I could close my door using those rubber seals. When I put them against the original, they are almost double the height actually.
Can you take a few pictures and show me on your car? I have a darn good feeling the shop gave me the wrong seals.

thanks heaps!
