Hi Bro, thinking of changing the auto transmision fuild and diff oil but have no idea what type of fuilds i should be using.. any E36 328i owner could share?Mine is 328i (A) year 1998, should i use Dexron III or ESSO LT 71141 for the GB fluid? Thank you.

Dextron III, its written underneath gb oilpan on green sticker. u will also see "no need to change oil" something like tat written.

Ori bmw atf will be the best.

Thanks Sachseelan.

Went to spare part shop today, was recommended with VAICO (60-0007 ATF Longlife) fluid. They told me that Vaico ATF longlife is from Germany and it is similar or equal to Dexron III, anybody heard or been using Vaico for your E36 328i GB?

Btw, Vaico ATF is not totally new to me as i have been using this ATF for my E39's Power steering fluid while I were using ZF fluid for my E39's GB (also recommended by the spare part shop). I was just wonder when the spare part shop says the Vaico is suitable for E36 328i. appreciate your advise. thanks..

use what you want, the parts shop will push what they have in stock or whats cheaper for them, they dont care whats the best for your car, for the gearbox, id use bmw atf..

can use any brand as long its dextron III
some even say Toyota atf is the best ;)
its personal preference bro
bmw atf, peace of mind ...
