Congratulations, Musclehedz. Sounds like you get a car with lots of mods already as a bonus... that's great! If you add up the cost of all those mods when new, you'll be surprised how much the previous owner has already spent on the car... when you get a chance, do a dyno test to see what's the horsepower produced by the performance mods, namely the K&N airfilter, Breyton exhaust, and Superchips... and compare w the standard spec... Also check out whether the previous owner has installed any antiroll bar... he might have, otherwise the car will roll excessively on standard... Since your mileage is already 152,000 km, these are the things to watch out for... 1. Slow to engage Reverse - it takes a couple of seconds for Reverse gear to bite 2. Occassional 'kick' when shifting up under certain rpms (especially when you release the throttle after excelerating under load) 3. Gear service light comes on 4. increased fuel consumption due to gear slipping (I always monitor my fuel consumption, a sure sign if something is wrong w your engine or drive train if it goes up...) Things to do to prolong the life of your gearbox... 1. Avoid sudden impact-type of stress to the box; shift into N, pause, before shifting from D to R, R to D, R to P, etc, avoid flooring the pedal from stationary, better to build up speed smoothly, avoid shifting into gear during high rpm.. 2. Regular maintenance and gearbox oil change What year is your model? I think 97, maybe 98, judging from the mileage... At this age (latest model is 98/99 anyways), just like mine, the engine will have accumulated some carbon deposits already. You will benefit from a thorough engine and fuel injector cleaning. check out voltage stabilizers and earthing cables as well... this really cleans up the current, giving you bettter idling, and more responsive torque, to name but a few benefits... People who drive my car can't believe that it's almost 200,000 km on the mileage... very torquey and smooth and quiet... Other things to watch out for... - steering rack - your car should track straight and true at top speed, if not, your steering is too loose, also check for leaks, steering racks are all recond now, about 2k... - aircond - about time for the cooling coil and compressor to give up, dashboard down job, a few thousand... - roof lining.... if the previous owner has not done this, it will droop on you soon... but simple job, coupla hundred bucks... Let me know if you have any other queries on this model... will be glad to share if i've encountered it before... Lastly... WELCOME TO THE PARTY B) B) B)
