Holy crap.. it wasnt the spark plugs. A few days ago my gearbox "kong". It went from gear 1, to gear 2, and then slips to gear 1. Sometimes the gearbox light comes on, sometimes not. If it comes on I will shutdown the car and restart. I try to shift manually from position 1, to position 2, and to position 3. When I shift to position 3, it hitches a little bit and nothing happens (its as if I havent shifted to 3). If I put it in position D, it goes from 1, to 2, then slips to 1 and RPM goes high (about 4000). Went to BMtech in USJ19, Mr Wong diagnosed the car and says nothing is wrong with the gearbox. Apparently my pedal is out of position and that's causing my gearbox slipping problems. When done he only charged me RM50 for it (thank God, I was expecting almost RM4K). The performance improvement was immediate, I could not stop flooring the pedal after that. I didnt realize my 1.8L can give me that much excitement.. I just reached Alor Star, and that 70kmj top speed in the mountains near Ipoh.. its nonexistant. So I would like to tell my other two mechanics that its not my 17" rims thats the problem! Anyway, I noticed that if I floor the pedal from speed 0, my first shift to second gear is done at about 4500rpm. Is this normal? If it waits so long to shift, then I'll probably not ever need the M mode and S mode right?
