Thanks for the replies and advice everyone, did not check back here for a while..thought the thread was dying out, but Im glad to see more posts in this section! @rizal_e34: The 5-speed is great, its only during highway/long-distance driving I wish there was a 6th gear to bring down the revs when cruising. (If I remember correctly, when I am at 120 km/h I will be around 3k rpm). I have not even gone close to 240 km/h! Still trying to learn slowly, have not pushed any boundaries or limits (...yet). @jo-e34: I have to admit I have not owned a bmw engine, I bought the car with the swap done already so I cant really compare. In fact, this 1jz car is easily twice the car than what I had owned before and then some! Driving is actually a pleasure now, rather than a mode of transportation..except maybe in a jam (heavy clutch + heavy traffic). I also did a rough test for fuel consumption with a mix of highway/traffic driving and got back 400km+ for rm100 of ron95, while not trying to be economical. @wanganstyle: Thanks so much for the info on the front thrust arms! I did a bit of research and the symptoms seem to match: - The 50-60 Mph shimmy. - Severely enhanced brake shimmy. - Clunk noise (cause by defective ball joint). - Bushings torn or with small cracks. from http://www.bmwe34.net/E34main/Maintenance/Suspension/Upper_arm.htm And I have more questions if anyone could be so kind to further help a noob: 1. How do you adjust the final drive ratio? Would I have to buy a new differential or can I adjust the current 5-speed? 2. How much boost/bar is recomended for the 1jz vvti? My boost controller needs to be tuned/reset, but when it is off it runs at 0.7, and when I turn it on it reaches 1.0 bar. What do you guys use? 3. Has anyone dyno-ed their car? Would love to see some results. Btw, if I wanted to dyno my car for both 0.7 and 1.0 bar, does it mean I have to do 2 seperate groups of 3 runs? 4. My accel pedal seems far back compared to my brake and clutch. I have been looking at pedal extensions but have not found any cheap alternatives for raising the height. There are these nice Rennline pedals, but they cost 90usd and additional 45usd just for the lifter plates (plus another 45usd for heel/toe extensions)! http://www.rennline.com/Rennline-Adjustable-Lifter-Plate/productinfo/PA71/ Can i buy just the pedal plate and make my own extensions? Thanks again, and any help much appreciated! -meta
