E32 740iL Steering Issue-heavy when engine cold.

Dear OM n forumners,Lately i have this issue with my UDM, E32 740iL ( A ) 1994 : steering is heavy coupled with some resistant/hesitation when turning either left or right .This only happened in the morning when the engine is cold after parking overnite, and will last about 2 -3 minutes.After driving n the engine has warm up, it is ok.Is this a prelude to a bigger problem ?Needs your comments n suggestions.P/s: my ride comes with hydraulic suspension n has no leaking issue with them or the steering components.Thanks.
 
Try renewing those "Pentosin" first or if i remember correctly, clean the ATF resouivor filter. These fluids are "damn" expensive.

wow wow wow.. AAM.. it seems that you are having a handful there... but thats the joy of runing that E32.

The steering part.. your pump should be flushed (pentosin). Then go and service the Steering Box. What happen when the system is cold, all the seals are worn and pressure cant build. When its hot the seal expand a little and pressure start to build. No need panic.. u can buy the repair kit.. about RM300-400. the job though going to cost about about the same. so you are looking at 700-800. And sin ceyou are at it, take out all the linkages and press fit all the ball joints. You will have more fun driving it later.

i know its an old post, but i happen to notice same problem. Sometimes my steering gets heavy, as if power steering is going off for a split second. But symptoms are very similar to those that AAM explained.

So, what solved your problem AAM? Care to share the costs?

Bro, sorry for the late reply,of late been busy.

Problem solved - flushed and changed the power steering fluid with Pentosin 11 S.

Damage , dont worry bro - less than 5 fingers.

The xpensive part is the fluid, I think you need 3 litres.
