Temperature? this is my experience, BM must have no air leak if so that can happen. check any of your hoses and joints even under your manifold any leak, slight leak you had it, after drive stop and check any water leak, if no or you have got the temperature once up high it may blow your gasket just a little will leak air then the pressure in the expansion tank will go up, by right will go down at the level you had if not that shows air is in and you have to wait cool and let the pressure air out if not you will get high temp. again. My problem starts from water pump then change tank then a hose like L shape blew at home and the fiber connection at the block leak a little that create overheat but I control the pressure when it start heated, because of all this little that makes the gasket to blew too, if unlucky worse water goes to engine oil get ready to top overhaul but mine it leak towards out not towards engine oil so I need to change the gasket only. Never allow the water level to go to the top of the expansion tank sure blew overheat thru the cap. Thats my experience.
