Dear subsevend, Myself had just acquired a 1995 E36 325 (M) in April and been using it as a daily driver for almost 2 months. I was exactly like you, doing a thorough research and finally decided that a manual tranny suits my needs of a beemer (not that autos is not good). Been doing serious research since 2006! My advise to you in preventing forking out thousands of dollars upon buying a beemer is (apart from the usual taking the car to a trusted bmw specialist for inspection) to get a maintenance report of the car you gonna buy. With it you can know what parts that you MUST change upon buying the car, so if the unchanged parts list is long you know you're gonna be a bit pokai "immediately" after buying it thus the decision is in your hand when that knowledge is yours. Comparing to buying a beemer without a complete maintenance record, the costs of some wear n tear parts might shock us to the point of heart attack. Myself, upon getting the car, 3 wear n tear items have reached it's time and had to be replaced. 1 fuel pump + 2 floats, driver side window regulator and radiator expansion tank, items which when i checked the maintenance record have never been changed for 15 yrs! IMO not bad for a beemer! The window regulator has rivets holding it meaning it is original item from the factory 15yrs ago. We have to grind it off to take it out. Other than that, the car works beautifully and now i understand what beemer owners rave about. Not to brag but i always find a reason to drive my car...Coincidentally the previous owner is a member here zulcar9ne. Been to Mersing to and fro without problems early this month and it's a wonderful feeling. Take my advise, don't rush and make your choice wisely!
