The car starts off in 2nd gear to save fuel and provide a smooth ride. It also prevents wheel spin in slippery conditions like wet roads and snow (but of course we don't get snow here but the car is a conti car remember?). If you want to be more aggressive in your acceleration flip the gear shift to DS mode. It will have more acceleration than your 2.4L Honda accord. No need to play with the DTC.(I had the 2.4L Honda accord and now the 325iS so I can relate perfectly).
