Hello all, Firstly a big thank you to those who assisted in one way or other to make this drive happen! And another thank you to those who participated! For me, this drive was an eye opener on many fronts..... What was great - With the grace of god and the capable hands of our convoy officials and participants, 28 cars arrived in Penang! - RM80 per nite room that was worth every penny! Thanks Gregcwho for such a splendid deal! U rock bro! - Enjoyed the "crazy" selection of food at the dinner venue. Thanks recce team! - Generally the convoy to Penang was safe and in order apart from town areas and jam packed roads. This is unavoidable What can be improved - Convoy management, it was a mission keeping the convoy in tact in town and busy stretches of the highway. A police escort would have worked wonders - Communication. Need long range and robust walkies, period - Participants awareness that they need to keep drive organiser informed if they cannot make a scheduled event, in advance - When travelling with families and visiting major metropolitan's, more free n ez is better than planned activities, form smaller groups and mingle amongst selves - Penang is always difficult with food and finding a place under one roof that fits everyone's taste bud and budget - An impress on the cardinal rule, NEVER EVER OVERTAKE THE CONVOY LEAD CAR. If you must for WHATEVER reason, inform the lead car beforehand so as the lead car can keep the formation in order. It is chaotic otherwise and the convoy is at risk. Off course, if you wanna rempit with the lead car, pls signal him/her and am sure he/she will oblige, situation permitting - If the CONVOY leader slows down to 20km/h, there is a reason for that.....usually the lead cars are there for a reason, they enjoy pace...so if they go slow, there is always a very valid reason Lastly, I wanna thank you for being patient and supporting the event, this is my 1st ever overnite drive event. Also thanks for supporting the recce team and the marshalls for their effort. You may have seen many of the faces around for a long time, but assure you that their official capacity in drives are still very new, me included. On behalf of the team, we apologise for any unintended short-comings. Phew!!! I'm tired to be honest and wanna hit the sack. But before that, I want to say a big thank you to all for supporting this drive and I hope you have all had fun. To those staying back, have fun! To those already home, good nite. P.S - I am short RM90 for the rooms, which I have already forked out to Greg to cover a total of RM2,550. Also short RM64 from sticker collections. Tq Till the next drive to Awana Kijal 6, 7 and 8 May 2011, take care and be safe. Rgds - S
