It started after about 4 years of use, I have seen some deteriorate much earlier. I had sticky surface on the rear passenger clasp too, I managed to solve that with rubbing alcohol and then protecting the surface with a water-based silicone spray (the one's ususally used to protect dashboard surfaces from cracks, peels and UV disclouration). However the front clasp was not really saveable as the rubber on the clasp delaminated altogether.</blockquote>
