While I generally buy new cars for piece of mind, I'm interested in a Mk6 Golf GTI and planning to get a 2nd hand unit as a weekend car. Some how don't really like the current Mk7, hence thinking about a 2nd hand Mk6 which is no more in production. Searched mudah.com.my and out came a golf GTI candy white. Called up the number and away i went to Bukit Jalil. Upon reaching there, 2 things caught my eyes. i) Long crack on the bottom part of the windscreen ii) Air con is not working. The solution to i is extremely dodgy in my opinion. If i purchase the car, they will claim it on my windscreen insurance. On my insurance for a defect that is there before i bought it? Now if this is not dodgy/unethical/just plain wrong, i don't know what is. The solution to ii, is they will fix the aircon. But after item number i, i find this very strange. Why not fix the problem before posting the ad/letting a customer view the car? Upon querying about inspection, they refuse to send the car to a mechanic of my choice. I can bring my mechanic, but not allowed to plug into the OBD of the car to read if there are any error codes. Querying further, the sales said, go find another unit elsewhere. Extremely strange and dodgy. Do PM me for more information. Feel free to share if you guys have any other experience with dodgy car dealers.
