As you know, the E9X does NOT comes with a dipstick. If the sensor fail, how do you check the oil level. Other than draining the oil and measure it with a 4 litres can and fill it back, there is no other way.A dipstick can roughly show the following:-1. Oil level - low, OK or high2. Good - colour check or smell check. So E9X owner, do you trust your sensor or your dipstick?I think Astroboy is going to retrofit a dipstick into his E90 soon. :top:

don't worry if your engine oil level low got sound one then only worry :love::love:

It might be too late.. but then again, can get new engine mah?

You are all KOREK! No right or wrong answer. :D

I'm a purist la.. or poorist .. :p I will not do anything that put my warranty to risk.. :D .. which happened to be 2 more months.. :p :D

And Rachel, she has not popped her hood before la. So whether got stick no stick, its irrelevant.. :p :D

For us, guys, no stick, very uncomfortable le.. :D

Of course, not advisable to retrofit when still under warranty but what about after..:listen:

Any idea on how to calibrate the stick for "High and Low". Not sure the depth of the oil sump would be same.

Yes! Same oil pan engine part for both E90 and E46 N46s. Part number: 11 13 7 568 565

Aiyaa, if really not sure, just do a full drain and pour 4.25L oil in and see mark the "new" level on the dipstick loo.. :p :D

I talk for fun only wor, u serious wan ah? So now can shop for E90 loo.. :p :D

Why bother? Does having a dip stick make you sleep better? :)
BTW, once you put in the dip stick, you will realize that you don't have a temperature gauge either. So are you going to put in that one too?

If that makes u sleeps better.. :p :D Still trying to figure out where they tap the sensors..

Wait! U need to pour 3.25L in first to mark the "low" on the dipstick, then add 1L to mark the "high".. now that's better.. :p :D

The dipstick parts all in should not cost more than RM200 and I'll try to get them at RM50 from the chop shop.. :p Wish me luck! :D

Better do it fast so my E90 can become the first E90 in the world that comes with dipstick! :top: How cool is that.. :D

Can BMW Perf Steering Wheel do the job??

well...u can consider a BMW Performance Steering Wheel. Its OLED display shows various date - oil temperature, water (coolant) temperature, a lap timer, G-Force Display(both lateral & forward G's). Only abt RM5.5k for the Perf.Steering. Might turn out chaper than trying to mod in a dip-stick into a non dip-stick engine!!

We'll only use the oil and water temperature gauge, the rest like G-Force monitor, quarter mile dash counter, 0-100kph timer, stop watch... gosh.. I think I never use la.. :p

Comes with:
- Stopwatch

- Stopwatch race (1/100s), up to 10 interim times

- Launch command via symbolic traffic light, reaction timer, maximum speed, top score will be saved automatically

-Quater mile race via symbolic traffic light, times for 1/8 mile, 1/4 mile

-Acceleration timer 0-40km/h,0-60km/h,…up to 400 meters

-G-meter (transverse & straight acceleration)

-Engine & oil temperature

-Shiftlights - 2×5 LEDs
