This morning a light came on , it says "Check". After few seconds went away. I don't think I'm low on oil or coolant, will check later. Any idea what this means?

Usually when the "Check" light comes on you can see the fault displayed on your OBC.

Not sure if it's for all faults though but most faults I believe will be shown there.

My OBC led/ights are not working anymore so can't see anything. Do you think I can still drive my car until i can get it to a workshop?

Well it doesn't seem like you have much of a choice. I hope your workshop isn't too far away.

oh no.. what happened to my ex? :(
Does the engine sputter or have rough idling? If yes. Best to tow. Once on MODIC, you'll know what's wrong. Most likely a sensor.

Oh hold on.. It's not the engine check light, right? Most likely it's the rear brake light (right side). That circuit is kinda old and tends to lose it's conductivity.

The OBC works but the display is slightly off. What you do is, press the OBC display and run your fingers along the display. You can make out what it says.... normally I always get "Check Brake Light"... If this is so, don't worry la. Can drive, what you do is just jiggle the right side brake bulb holder a bit. After re-starting the car, it should go away.

want to get the anti-dote for these bug which KILL the OBC, i sale it at RM5,000.00 share for 100 people/E36 owner for RM50 per person;
soo, soo, soo damn cheap already.., that bug not only affect OBC.., other too...., debug it now before it start to KILL

DIY capable by any E36 owner to debug it...,
look for it by yourself, if you all did not trust me at all.
i am not the bug designer, it was hardwork to find/dig it out..

i suspect it had been intergrated into other BMW as well ???, no idea who design it??
real-real-real DIRTY work... for dirty money,????? (CKD version?/ JAPANese version?)

sorry for those E46, or other model... :34:,
much more complex system...? much more bug???

contact me tru..

1) Washer fluid low
2) Coolant fluid low

Bro, I think you are wrong to think that all problem are bug related.

It sad to have people like you who drive an UDM.

Honestly, its people like YOU who give UDM a bad name.

please sell your car and refrain from posting on this forum.

It is a well known problem with E36 to have bad contact for the brake and night driving light.

if you were to study the rear light casing, the contact on the bulb holder is spring load clip. They have a tendency to loose it shape due to the constant vibration.

A clear sign is oxidation or slightly scour or burnt mark. Just clean the contact by sanding it down with a sand paper and push the two clip up. It should solved your problem.
