Using student's AP to import a used UK car certainly looks attractive (financially) for potential buyer. The downside is that said imported car will be registered including the insurance policy under the student's name and I believe registration is non-transferable for 5 years. Of course one may suggest that an agreement and/or transfer form to be drawn up and signed between the student and the "actual owner" (potential buyer). However I also believe that any agreement made that circumvent the laws and/or regulations is not enforceable in the court of laws. So if later on the student decides not to honour this agreement, what option would the "real buyer" have? Likewise, if the "real buyer" commits traffic offences and/or used the car for criminal offences, would the student be held responsible?
