Hi guys just wonder do you do coating on your ..mind to share some info with me ....tq

i did. Sent my car to KC (one of our club vendors). I only do regular car wash now. The shine will last a few years. No need to polish but if you want a smooth buttery finish just wax every fortnight.
No regrets coating my car.

p/s - I noticed you posted "coating on your......" I reckoned the missing word is ...car?
Anyway my answer is with reference to coating a car.

Thank bro for the information yes i mean car coating .. how much did they charge?

Its best that you contact the vendor directly for the current pricing as i did mine last year. I remember I paid around 2.5k excluding glass and rim coatings. It will be more if you include these two jobs.

Anyone knows that with Coating, does it mean that my paint will not get permanant water mark (thru regular raining water) even if I only wash my car once a week?

My car coated with opticoat as well. Less than 1 year of usage (with proper car wash with their onr weekly), I found out the water beading effect no more there, but weirdly only some car parts is affected. Currently waiting for follow up.. My opinion on coating, apply it if u hv free time to take care the coat properly(car wash every week) and send back to rectify when effect wear off, or else just send for polish every year. At least the minor scratches can be polished off every year, meanwhile the car shine is refresh yearly.

Jhgooi, coating can't prevent watermark. My car got plenty of watermarks especially on the roof and front bonnet even through I wash every week. Seeing the condition of the coating now, really wasted my effort to maintain for the past 1 year.

TSH, really thanks a lot for experience you share... I was having doubt that with coating, we should not get water mark if we wash our car regularly (we pay so much for the coating...); "regularly" means wash once a week :p...
So, this mean that even with coating, after every rainy days, you will still need to wash the car to prevent water mark. Just that the coating will keep the car shine.

Try the fellas at Sonax Glenmarie. They did an awesome coating job on my car last month. Full detailing and coating package special for BMWCM Official Members. Just contact the owner Mat Reza 016-2592145.

Hi Guys,

From what I understand, there are two ways to protect the original paint, which is...
1. Lamination of the car which is the surface of the car is protected by a thin plastic layer of 2 to 3 mm thick. This prevents scratches and paint chips from small stones.

Or

2. A protective coating which is very thin that protects the paint. Similar to what you guys are talking about here.

The above information I got from one of the threads in this forum. Can't remember the names of the recommended shops. All I remember was one of the recommended shop was in sunway.

I wanted the lamination service but could not locate the thread. Any members have any valuable experience and recommendation for the lamination service? Appreciate it.

Hello yours faithfully

I remember our club vendor SWCC do offer laminating services. Contact Ms Grace

Dear beemerback,

When to vendor page as suggested but could not find SWCC. Am I doing something wrong?

Dear all,

Anyone got any review on the coating of their choice? Would love to hear review on the lamination especially if it's been installed more than a year.

THanks to all in advance.

You could try SierraGlow or PPS. I have tried both. SierraGlow is cheaper and have a blue flame technology that gives a 'wet look'. I had used it on a 5 year old black Volvo after 5 years and very satisfied with the results. Just completed new coating by my new car.

Hi INair67,

After five years the shinny coat still ok? Does it also beads the water away like the opti coat? Trying to avoid pesky water marks. Any warranty?

Anyone here has input on Sierra glow vs opti coat ?

I have a Sierra Glow coat on my car, car still maintains the wet look after more than a year. Water still beads up. Also used Sierra Glow on my previous car which helped maintain the shine.

Hi guys.. just would to know if u all been using mequire coatinģ before ? 3 layer glass coating cost about 1.5k and warranty for wholelife ...

Hi David72,

Wholelife warranty? better ask for a warranty certificate in black n white. Better check if there is any other conditions such as have to come in half yearly for maintenance etc. Any other misc expenses? If 1.5K for whole life warranty is definitely worth it.

Good to beware also of bad car detailers that might say : lifetime warranty or 5 years, whichever comes first. In this case, we are looking at a 5 years warranty. Life time can also be subjected to the life time of the glass coating.

Check and let us know. Cheers!
