the other thing we should look at is power/weight ratio, e.g. hp/tonne, NM/tonne. so assuming both are automatics, a 1.8 civic on paper would have peak numbers of: 1. 111.3bhp/tonne 2. 140nm/tonne (138bhp, 174nm, 1240kg) civic 2.0: 1. 116.4bhp/tonne 2. 143.0nm/tonne (153bhp, 188nm, 1315kg) the e46 328 will be: 1. 140.9bhp/tonne 2. 203.7nm/tonne (193bhp, 279nm, 1370kg) e46 320i (6-cyl): 1. 116bhp/tonne 2. 143.3nm/tonne (170bhp, 210nm, 1465kg (www.carfolio.com)) so looks like the civic 1.8 and and 2.0 should be able to outgun the e46 320i, given close power-to-weight ratios, and presumably less drivetrain losses. what about my chipped old junk e34? :) 1. 140bhp/tonne 2. 180nm/tonne (211bhp, 272nm, 1505kg)
