Hi Guys,Curious why I always get static shock when I get out from the car?Any of the E90s member here facing the same problem?Any solution for this?Cheers

Actually it is. When we move around in our leather seat, shoes rubbing against the carpet, we build up the static charge. The dry air-conditioned atmosphere in the car also contributes to this. One way is to hold the metal door frame before exiting your car. As for my case, i changed to rubber mats and have not been zapped since:4:

I never been zapped in my e90 ... when I exit I do touch the car frame. I heard in the US that the petrol filling incidents were mainly women. The reason being they exit without touching the car's metal frame. So the static ignites the petrol fumes.

i get it every now and then as well... alwiz thought it was my own body emitting static :p

I think shouldn't be our own body problem,
I don't get shock with previous car and even my wife's car.

But the 320d seems every day and every time.

I never had problem with my e90 but get it a lot in my Avanza. What floor mat u used? Mine is original mat in the e90 and the curly after market mat for my Avanza.

You people wear expensive kashmir wool pants will sure generate lots of static electricity :)

I get the same thing as well! especially if I go to the McDonalds drive through then I get shocked when I put my hand out and if I touch the car body. I always thought that it was me because once in a while I do shock a few of my friends

check your wear materials....You must have wear something sexy and hot

Hi Bro. astroboy,
My floor mat is the orginal for E90.

Any suggestion?

Hahaha, Bro. jwah, I am very conservative one, never wear anything that is sexy. :)

But, You mean you never get shock with your E90?

Hi All,

What you mention on the causes of static is all valid. If static is a big nuisance to you, pls pm me and I can share with you some solution for this.....no charge but need to collect in Penang. Pls see

This is the same product used by almost all automotive manufacturers on parts manufacturing, PDI (post delivery inspection) and after sales services.

Cheers,

I also got electrostatic shocked from my 325i. so nowadays i just close the close by touching the door handle (exterior) as that is not metal. Don't really like that feeling.
