Hello Gentlemen, I'm hoping to get some good advice from the e34 veterans here. My car has been burning oil at a rate of 4 liters per 5000KM and I have been wanting to get it looked at. Now a friend of mine is going to germany for a week and he's willing to get me some stuff from there. The big question is; is it possible to tell before hand what parts are required for an overhaul job, especially a bottom overhaul? Or does the engine need to be disassembled to get an idea. I did a top overhaul about a year ago and the problem wasn't solved. This time my mechanic says that the rings need to be changed. At the time he checked the cylinder walls and they had no issues. Does that mean that I don't need to use over-sized rings? Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks,
