hey there any one using Broadband USB modem .... those offered by Maxis , celcom , ezzy and so on ...Any problems faced...do share the problem if you're one of the broadband user ...

I'm using broadband but not with USB device. i'm using PCMCIA card modem. this set up for my "on the move" and i subscribe the 384k, not the "bigger" one (1.5G if i'm not mistaken). reason is the bigger one only have limited coverage compare with this 384k that have the most coverage all over Malaysia.

To me the only obvious advantage of using USB device it can be use with PC other than notebook cause all PC doesn't have the PCMCIA slot. (AFAIK)

I am on Celcom broadband. However did not buy the modem from celcom coz they charge RM999. Got the same thing for RM840. Use a dlink wireless router and can share it with flatmate. Speed OK lah but sometime slow due to bad weather.

BTW, overall hardware cost RM1350 (Wireless router plus USB Huawei 3G modem)
Have to pay RM68 for registration with celcom. Celcom says it take about 1 day to activate the line but I actually found that it was in service after 6 hours. You get a SIM card issue to you after registration.

I think celcom have the largest coverage. Even PD also good coverage as compare to Maxis. Forget about other providers if you are planning to use the
broadband service outside klang valley.

The huawei USB modem is plug and play..

man13ice,
started using max brdband mobile abt 2wks ago and so far no probs
only thing is the reception in some areas may cause the unit to putus
konek frequently. when at my opis in Tmn MJ no putus as reception very strong.
anyhow they [maxis] give you 7 days no question money back warranty and the tech dept is very helpful. costs $138 monthly and comes witha 3G simKad with free sms/calls if u know how to korek them out. Worth experimenting with the 7 days trial. Thasall......

am using the maxis broadband, but not the usb one. using the modem about the size of a diary. so far so good. was told if outside area, will switch from broadband to gprs(kalau tak silap).

even brought my laptop during monsoon cup, as well as my many out of kl trips..... so far no problems with it.

cost less than RM100 p/m inclusive of the modem rental....

thinking of getting maxis boredband since my nu apt in kepong got no telekom service, but this is shocking... 53.6kbps connection? Perhaps a rare occurence, but made me think again. This connection was made in bt caves area... tens of times of conet and disconet operation yields the same thing.

i using Maxis 3.5G internet (broadband) RM99 unlimited thru my nokia n95 during working day...very stable & fast...im very happy for this...

speed fast as 3.5G & 921.6Kbps

i have streamyx at home and a Celcom 3G that I use when I am in my satellite office.

1MB Streamyx at home - no need to comment la. ok. Speed-wise not bad actually.

Celcom 3G - throughout the day, there will be some lag and at times, I have to disconnect and reconnect again. Speed-wise, ok la. 384kbps.

Me using Streamyx for more than a year. Initially the rumours were all true, %^&#ed up connectivity & the blardy line kept getting cut off. Called a telecom specialist & got a new line wired in straight from the telecom pole (old lines almost 15 years old). Now I get no interuptions whatsoever. Only slightly slower during peak hours.

well now Maxis have made some changes to it's contract...not sure why ..maybe kena sue kaw kaw for such kind of service ...

those days if you terminate yo u need to pay for the rest of the months 18 months or so ..

but now if you terminate you just need to send back the device and pay rm200 and so ..

anyway those using the BB USB type ..just be carefull not to loose it ..or else you need to fork out RM800 for replacement ...

I am on maxis broadband USB for two months now. So far so good. Even tried it out in East Malaysia, major towns, ok but smaller towns a bit slow. I only pay RM108 per month on the "bolt-on" programme (must commit 18 months). The mobile modem is under warranty for as long as you are paying the monthly bills. Great stuff!

Streamyx is the worse provider ever...full of shit...pure rubbish..but what can I say..its a budget line which millions of users are using
